“I'm working with my dev team on some indie game stuff and we wanna look into getting discs made for our games as a small collectible fun thing/a thing for people who wanna have a hard copy/and something for kickstarters, but we don't know a good list of places that do game discs…”

Developers are exploring crowdfunding and new production models to secure funding, indicating dissatisfaction with traditional publisher routes. This suggests a shift in the game development landscape as creators gain more control over their projects and finances.

The standard basically is for creative/passion projects, if cast or crew like the idea and have the time they’re happy to join without money involved since the project won’t make money. But if it’s a commercial gig with a budget than obviously payment is a requirement. What’s the equivalent in the indie game dev/artist/music space? I am trying to save up a budget because I believe in paying for people’s skill, but my resources will likely be limited, so I wanted to se”
“I keep seeing that the best thing to do right now is treat game dev as a hobby and not bother making this your career. And use the skills you’ve learned as transferable skills to another industry. Now that begs the question….. what industry? Because in my experience, I have not come across an industry that is any better or not suffering the same issues. It feels like one of those “oh yeah just get another job”. Where? Like where? I beg your finest pardon. Is it just a regular software engineerin”
“Hey there! I am an Indie Game Developer and wanted to ask, where exactly to look and how to find you specific niche content creators to get in touch? Is there any resource you guys use to get approached? submitted by /u/EatYourProtein4real [link] [comments]”

“Hey everyone, I’m looking to conduct a research which potentially can help future devs develop and publish their games for example funding, project management marketing etc. My question is which is the main problems you guys face during making games etc funding, publishing ,marketing.you get the gist, As well during my research till now I discovered the ungodly cuts that platforms take of the game profits especially if the game does well. And when it comes to the uk market what difficulties you f”

“My friends and I are working on something together after getting laid off. We’re not rich so time is ticking. I’m wondering how much time is spent waiting for would-be publishers’ replies. We hope to send pitch decks out end of September and wait and see if there are any bites. If not, we launch the Steam page mid/end October and see if that gets any publisher attention. Would it be realistic to have a deal signed before December? Or is that crazy talk? For those of you with publishers, how long”
“I saw the rules so I am not asking to get people to join. But if you know good locations to work with others? I am willing to work out legal documents and pay for that part myself. But... well I have two ideas on how to make it profitable. And I am willing to be open with my identity so I won't be fading into the background stealing money or anything from everyone? Could I have a bit of help finding a place to ask if anyone would be interested in building a mod team for unreal? submitt”
“The studio wants to support "intense, stylized games with an attitude" but is not interested in "generative AI slop." The publishing terms stand out even more to me. Letting revenue reach developers before full recoup could make this a much healthier model for small teams. It will be interesting to see if other indie publishers follow. submitted by /u/Xvalt01 [link] [comments]”
“Thanks to the popularity of PEAK, the studio/publisher hybrid now has some spare cash to invest in the people reading this post right now. I'll link to the press release at the bottom if you want to real all the details but the high level are: Games which match their vibe and will do well with their existing audience This is collaboration, not raw funding like Outersloth No 100% recoup, you're getting revenue from the start Release date milestone payment is paid ahead of time so devs can”
“Was it through a free or paid course? YouTube? Or a combination of both? I already know a bit of C#, but I’m not sure what learning path I should follow or which resources I should use. I’ve been watching Code Monkey, but I don’t know if that will be enough. What would you recommend for someone starting out? submitted by /u/AndaTriLho_1 [link] [comments]”
“I'm more inclined towards Godot, but the lack of resources for C# is kind of pushing me away. I know it won't matter in the long run, but my dummy dum dum brain needs a definite answer. Background: 4.5 years of attempting to get into programming, usually quitting pretty fast, but I was able to make my own webapps with js without tutorials at one point. All this to say, I'm not exactly a complete beginner, but I am at most 1% better than one. I'm sorry for asking the question that”

“The folks over at GamesIndustryBiz have done an impressive deep dive into TGC's latest initiative , just announced today a few hours ago. Everywhere we look, developers are taking funding matters into their own hands whether it's crowdfunding campaigns (like we discussed last week) or developing unique constellation model for production (like Strange Scaffold) to account for the costs of building games. One of these breakout publishers, Evil Landfall, has landed another hit with their re”
