“8yrs ago - installed Shaw Metropolis 6 color "station" in the main areas of the home. 1.5-2yrs ago - installed same flooring in bedrooms (i was dumb and put carpet in there 😒 while living on a farm with small kid and pets) Now - were expanding off the back of our house…”
“Not ANOTHER hardwood on concrete post! 😄 . I live in Southern California. 2 story house is on slab. I want to put hardwood on the first story, stairs and second story. Hursts Hardwoods and a few other places spec nail/stage down. Lumber Liquidators says they warranty glue? But…”

There are some gaps between the boards too. I don’t know who did this work, this is how the floors were when we purchased the apartment. We can eventually get them redone but what can we do about it in the meantime? Thanks for any advice. submitted by /u/Infamous-Parsley-931 [link] [”
“I have about 700 sq ft I want to replace with a 9x48 wood plank tile (porcelain, 9mm thick, pressed edge). I was doing a ton of research on this and trying to figure out the best route to proceed . Current setup is 1 1/2 inch T&G subfloor, 3/8 inch particle board, 3/8 carpet pad and carpet. I also have a hallway with the particle board and laminate or engineered hardwood on it. I was planning to rip it all out to the subfloor and screw down 3/8 plywood onto the subfloor running perpendicular”
“I had some flooding in my garage and finished basement this last week. The basement was completed prior to when I purchased the house. The floor used to be LVP and has to be replaced. I am being given the floor in the photos for free. Can anyone tell me if this is solid hardwood or engineered hardwood? Is it possible to use this floor on a concrete slab? I appreciate any knowledge people can share. submitted by /u/trumpet_tom [link] [comments]”
“Oh I see what you meant! I tend of think of laminate as an old school flooring material...the sort of thing that I'd be removing, rather than installing. For new installation, I favor LVP.”
“Have existing flooring of different types in a house we just bought but we can’t determine the type and thus don’t know where to find more of it. Wife says it’s “white washed bamboo” and AI says it’s band saw cut from quarter cut. Reverse image search on google is all over the place. Pics are top view of boards and a cross view from AC vent looking at long axis for a board. Any clues much appreciated. submitted by /u/taylormytht [link] [comments]”
“So I live in a home that has a marriage line connecting both halves of the house. Long story short the previous owner removed support beams underneath the kitchen and the floor was sagging. After raising the floor properly the flooring is now uneven. The guy(works for a GC company) advertised all of these upgrades he did but I have had to go back through and fix almost all of them properly. Didn’t even put underlayment under the “new” flooring. My question is what is the best transition strip or”

Flooring goes N to S directionally. Our living room will be expanded by about 16ft to the west (along with a master suite and office addition). Problem is we can not locate this flooring ANYWHERE. “Unfortunately it looks like we made the mistake of purchasing LVP for most of our house through Floor and Decor last fall. Their 'lifetime warranty' and decent prices on their waterproof LVP were selling points for us. We're now experiencing buckling and bubbling in a couple spots near doors, and separating at the end seams in the hallway. I've looked at their BBB page and found zero positive experiences, and seen a few posts on Reddit about them, also nothing good. I figured I&#”
“This might a stupid and simple question but i really dont know the reason tiles in my apartment are like this. In 2023 there was water damage and then termites. All was fumigated. Some part of the boards were replaced in 2024. 2 years later the new boards are hollow and cracking. And supposedly healthy boards are as above. The construction company is trying to say its my fault(!) submitted by /u/adacayi [link] [comments]”
“Or take up all the flooring and run it all the same direction so this doesn’t happen. You will have to have some sort of transition since the flooring is different directions. Maybe someone else has a better solution. Because a 16’ transition strip (T groove) would work, but may look off. I’m curious to what others say. Best of luck!”
