“I'm choosing flooring- maybe Lifeproof LVP- for rooms that all transition to a room that has a 10 mm (8 + a 2mm pad) Pergo laminate. It's hard to find 10 mm options. How much thicker or thinner can the product be without any issues between rooms? submitted by /u/Outrageous-9859 [link] [comments]”

“I’m not sure what to ask my contractor for because I’m not sure what typically goes here but it seems like something should. This is my interior engineered hardwood flooring meeting an exterior door and there’s what I would consider a notable gap between the two. submitted by /u/_reesespisces [link] [comments]”

“First time homeowner and flooring installer. Putting rigid core LVP (SPC core if that matters) over an on-grade slab. It’s a small space, and my hope was to run the floor continuously. I’ve gone through about 120 lbs of feather finish floor patch and used an angle grinder on a couple high spots. I have one bag of feather finish left. The pictures kind of speak for themselves - the hallway is flat and the white room is flat (within 1/16”) as independent spaces, but the hallway is about a 1/4” low”

“So looking to install LVP in bedrooms first with transitions to main living area which will be completed after bedrooms. There will be transitions from bedrooms to main living areas as well as LVP to tile transitions for bathrooms and utility room. I know ideally it would look better to do all LVP sections seamlessly but I’d like to do 1 bedroom at a time and work at my own pace as well as keep everything square since I’m new to LVP. Thoughts? submitted by /u/StockMarketinator [link]”

“Hi I’m in the process of installing 1100sq ft of lvp in the hallway and then rooms. I’m wondering what’s the recommended way to block the ends that are leading into the rooms so the planks don’t move while i finish room by room. I’ve seen people take small pieces, lock the ends and screw it down. submitted by /u/ninjasinpunjab [link] [comments]”

“I don’t know anything about flooring so forgive the stupid question. I’m going to be laying wood plank LVTs over my existing terrazzo floors and was wondering if I need transitions/what kind I need in the spots where it butts up against the tile that is about a half inch taller. submitted by /u/snmnc123 [link] [comments]”

“there’s this small section between hallway and living room. different flooring types/sizes in each. when we moved in there was just metal transition strips on each so I just popped these wood ones in quickly to make it look better. of course they float and strip out the screws constantly. looking for the way to fix the transition for good. everything I’ve found online has just been showing how to install a single transition. submitted by /u/little-ox-3 [link] [comments]”

“Need some advice from you folks. https://i.imgur.com/DZNiZIK.jpeg I've got lvp flooring. I'm trying to figure out how I can transition the floor to the stairs? I just finished ripping out the laminate stairs and putting in a retread kit. ( this one . I could just cut in the tread kit but the stringers on the side look strange. Any suggestions on how I could make that look better? submitted by /u/BCouto [link] [comments]”

“Hello all, I am removing about 330 sqft of carpet and installing some LVP in our living room. We are keeping the tile in our kitchen and where the LVP transitions there will need about half an inch of height difference. I thought about buying some 4 in 1 molding where from Home Depot where it transitions. I also thought about buying 7/16 OSB sheathing to make up the height difference. Would this be acceptable? Using nails or screws to secure it to the existing subfloor. Any help is greatly appre”

“Thinking of installing hardwood in my bedroom. Trying to plan it all out before purchasing and I’m wondering what I can put to transition into my bathroom as the floor is slightly higher I also have this spot in my dining room by the sliding door that has no strip. “I'm undergoing a kitchen reno and hybrid flooring install. The builder's carpenter is hesitant to undercut the kitchen peninsula back panel and run the hybrid floor under. As a compromise, I'm OK with using a slim L-trim between the back panel and flooring. I've done some research and from what I can tell I can either use: (1) a L-trim matched to my hybrid flooring OR (2) a matte black L-trim to create a shadow line look. I'd like to hear what others in the community have don”

“Hello, I am going to replace my flooring currently i have a cheap laminate flooring and i want to upgrade to Luxury vinyl tiles. I wanted engineered wood flooring but decided against it becasue it's higher maintenance. i am looking at Kardean Van Gogh and Amtico Spacia is there much difference between the two brands? “I am laying new 12mm click lock laminate through my flat, including both rooms pictured, with 5mm wood fibre underlay. I was planning on laying length ways through the doorway to make a seamless transition. (I know some advise not doing this and adding a threshold to allow expansion - different topic). Having remove all old flooring, I find there is a 14mm height difference between rooms. This is not a straight drop at the moment, but over ~150mm through the doorway between the rooms, so approxi”

“I installed ~170sq ft of vinyl plank and I’m trying to figure out the transitions, specifically how to make this look good at my front door. I was thinking remove this old beat up wood threshold and put in a new larger one that I can screw down so the lip of it sits right on top of the LVP covering any gaps but leaving a small expansion gap underneath. Micro bevel edge, but basically you cant tell there is any bevel it will be pretty flat and smooth together. Which do you prefer #1 or #2. Side notes, I'm selling the house in 2-3 years most likely. “Edit: I know I need an expansion gap. Floor calls for 1/4”. I’m asking what other options I can do other than a fat rounded T mold. The lvp won’t be butted up to the tile like this, it’ll run left to right. Whats the best way to transition this? I absolutely hate the fat rounded T molds. They’re more or less level the whole way. “We're redoing floors throughout the whole house. The wife likes LVP, and there are SOME decent brands out there, but she wants to do the same material throughout the house (or most of it, possibly different for kitchen or bathroom). Here's the issue: the first floor has the hardwood floor walkway/hallway (and bathroom, which I hate). The rest, all carpet, and the first floor is a fairly open floorplan, so we have a big transitions between the rooms in flooring without walls (hardwood to”

“We recently had our floors redone after a flood and we noticed this after our install was finished. The tile in the bathroom is higher than the LVP. We had carpet before so it was very noticeable then but now were just waiting to stub a toe or something. What options do we have to help mitigate issues down the line? “Is there an easy way to fill this gap between LVP and the old threshold? It’s been a project on the to-do list for a couple years now and was hoping to surprise my partner with it completed. “I just installed this laminate floor in an entryway. I originally planned on using the manufacturer's end cap for the transition. The problem is that the new flooring is flush with the threshold. The door sweep is tight against the floor, and it's an exterior steel door, so I can't just plane it to clear. There is no vertical space for the T-strip to go. Is there something here I am not seeing? What can I do here to terminate the flooring at the exterior threshold? submitted by”

“My wife and I want to lay LVP over our old and beaten down wood floors in our home. These are the original floors from back in 1916 when our house was built. There are a few spots where the previous owners knocked out some walls, which left some humps in the current floors where they covered up where the wall was. (see image, may be kind of hard to see?). I’m planning on doing the LVP myself with some help. What would you guys recommend doing for leveling out these spots? Sanding them down? Seei”

“Here’s the issue: planks are cracking after several years because there is space underneath them (I didn’t do the most perfect leveling job but I also think my kid jumping off the sink may have done a number on them and possibly the subfloor). I don’t have enough leftover matching planks to lift a portion and replace. Lifting the ALL the planks and replacing them would necessitate moving the vanity, which would probably take half the wall with it (and if I did that I’d probably need to buy a new”

“So, according to my flooring instructions, any opening smaller than 4' requires a transition strip. I imagine it is an area more prone to separation? Either way, its what the instructions calls for so it is what I am doing. What I am wondering is what about areas in a kitchen like the cavity for the stove/oven and fridge gable? They are areas where it transitions from long running rows/open area to narrow areas (under 4'). Plus, they have a fridge and stove pinning them down *somewhat*.”

“Hi everyone. Looking to get this floor as flat and raised for an LVP install in a bedroom. The floor is like most where it needs to be no more than 3/16” gap within 10’ radius or 1/8” within 6’. I would like to raise the subfloor 3/16” so that the LVP planks will match the height of the laminate floor of the joining hallway. “Hello I was just wondering whether anyone can offer any advice on the pros and cons of bamboo flooring over engineered wood with a more traditional top layer.
