“I tried to get into a Computer Science Major but I could not get all the prerequisites so I changed my major. However, I still wish to learn Game Design. How do I learn the necessary Programming Techniques and how do I know what to start with? (I am using Godot and I am want to…”
“I‘m currently working on my Masters degree in CompSci and have also recently started as an Indie dev. One of my courses is about advanced computer graphics, in which we learn about 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) a new photo realistic render method, which is still in an early phase…”

Many indie developers are facing challenges in game design, including technical hurdles like sphere-triangle collision math, difficulty blending tech and magic elements, map design for driving games, and choosing the right perspective. Beginners express uncertainty about where to start and how to achieve a desired visual style.

“Hello, I am a uni student doing game design but there is a lot that they do not cover in courses and there are many things I am still needing help with. I want to make an open world game, nothing serious just something I can enjoy making in my spare time away from uni and develop more skills. What I am stuck with right now are two things: So as the player, you can enter houses which are separate maps, for the walls and the floor would it be better to make a mesh that is simply a 2D plane as supp”

“Hello everyone, I am a new beginner dev, and I wanted to make a driving game ( in my free time) with survival horror elements The game will be inspired by (Pacific drive) as you would drive, and your goal is to gather data from either satalites, which you have to visit, and return back to your base to complete the (maybe) daily quota or by going through the world and find anomalies then scan them and get back Because of that I wanted the map to be open and huge with long distance rides to comple”
“Hello, I have developed a 3D platformer game called Avys Empire. I started working on it in February 2026. It is a game where the main character is an eagle that has to collect resources - gems, bird seed and orbs, which are designed to help bird families develop in a fictional country. Even after paying ads and making a good designed page, I had absolutely ZERO downloads. The game has a TRAILER, a few gameplay screens, a story, a tutorial that teaches how to play and a polished description. I m”
“This question came to me when I working on my game levels and I was thinking about Focusing on game's visuals,Although I'm a solo developer. My current game direction is a "Precision Platformer" with a bit of "rage bite" and some of my own sense of humor, though visuals are still important so I want to know : how good is good enough??????Especially since I want to keep it simple submitted by /u/Public_Pickle_1316 [link] [comments]”

“Hi all! I was wondering if the community had any resources regarding the math behind sphere to triangle mesh collision. I am very specifically looking to build something that would allow me to use a spherical collision object against a low poly triangle mesh directly being used as a map. Think n64 era Zelda games. What I have so far: I have separated the triangle mesh into a hash map so that I only check collision with a given amount of triangles from within it at a time Found a paper suggesting”
“I want to make a fantasy RPG world. But I don't want to overdo one or the other. Even though one country in the game is going to be higher on the basis of tech. But I want it to feel like it makes SENSE as to why technology is there while keeping the fantasy aspect. submitted by /u/YukioBorealis [link] [comments]”
“hello. I am just a beginner dev and I’m gonna make my first large game soon, Ive had the idea and name for a while but I just can’t decide on the perspective, 3D, 2.5D? idk. the game will be called “to the moon and back“ and it’s about warth being just polluted and destroyed and all the important (and rich) people are up in a bunch of spacecraft going to a diffrent terraformed planet. the story is that you contacted the lady ship that left and they said if you can find a way back up then they’d”
