“My parkway is some thick centipede grass but the front and backyards are a blend of KBG and rye. I’ve got squirrels tearing everything up everything but this centipede patch. Any reason not to transition everything to centipede or something similar? I’m in 7A. submitted by /u/Most-Bag-9405 [link] [comments]”

“Within a week it really helps close the gaps. Lots of raccoon damage this year + stressed spots from deer laying on the lawn for longs periods of time. It really has exceeded my expectations. Seems pretty dummy proof, too. Olympic Peninsula, WA. submitted by /u/austnf [link] [comments]”

“My centipedegrass front lawn has pretty much been destroyed by Japanese clover now. I am planning to rip it up next spring and sod with Zeon, since my zoysia back yard remains weed-free. In the meantime I can’t decide if I should T-zone the yard and/or overseed with ryegrass, or just leave it to deteriorate until next spring when I kill it, till it, & sod. All help is appreciated. submitted by /u/Woompa78 [link] [comments]”

“I’m in Florida and looking to replace my electric mower. I'm considering Navimow X430 now and still hesitant. My yard is about an acre, mostly St. Augustine and random weeds that show up. It gets thick fast in summer, especially if I let it go 5 or 6 days between cuts. There’s also a sloped patch near the back fence, probably around 25 degrees. Tbh I’m worried the mower will get into the thicker patches. Does it actually keep moving through dense St. Augustine? Also curious about cut quality”

“Regular Recyclers are good mowers. I think you could get marginally better results by upgrading to a commercial push mower but you probably would figure it wasn’t worth it. You can adjust the RPM of your mower a little faster, that will help. Bagging and dumping the clippings into a container staged at the end of your rows may speed up the process also. A lot of people never want to bag but there is a time and place for it. In the end most warm season turf needs to be cut twice a week peak summe”

“I just bought a house that needs some lawn work. I’m not too well versed in this stuff. I’m looking for some advice on where to start. If anyone is in the local area and can help in person that would be great too. submitted by /u/Automatic-Bit3272 [link] [comments]”

“I've got this thick stubborn grass coming onto my yard from both neighbors! What is the best way to target this and prevent from coming across anymore? Do I need to drive a slab of metal down or something? In Southern California btw. submitted by /u/Ashamed_Salamander_2 [link] [comments]”

“Is this salvageable? Or is it better to just do a full tear-out and sod job? The lot is just under .25 acres in central Ohio. submitted by /u/MediaMoguls [link] [comments]”

Until you spend 10k for a Deere ZT730 or equivalent you hope for a deal on a well maintained Exmark, Walker, Toro etc, the residential zero turns are are made of throwaway parts, always sealed hydros. I can't in good conscience recommend a machine that can't be maintained when they could buy something that can be in their price range. $3900 max budget, this guy would do way better mechanically,”

“If you're willing to buy a rider. Why not get a robo mower and use the time you save for your passions. Now if your passions include riding on a mower to cut the grass, then by all means.. But personally, i love the freedom of having a robomower cut my grass.”

“The cheap zero turns I think have questionable reliability and fixability long term. The biggest advantage to a lawn tractor is you can pull a trailer behind it for any lawn jobs granted you dont have anything in your yard currently but you also dont have any obstacles for a zero turn. You could also get an older lawn tractor used for cheaper and it would still be efficient. Youre not getting an old zero turn that is cheap or cheap to repair”

“Yeup I agree with you on the weekly cut in Texas lol it would probably have me beat the rest of the day”

“Git you a rider. Don't need a zero turn with your lack of obstacles. I have been happy with my cub cadet. Mine is 50 inch deck for half acre lot. I can do front and back in abt 30-40 min.”

“My back and side yards are zoysia. I was hoping to use a sod cutter and give my buddy my old centipede and then lay down zoysia. Do I really need to kill the centipede before cutting it out? Could I cut out the centipede and then lay down some chemicals before laying the zoysia? What’s the right move here? Thank you in advance submitted by /u/ggtbeatsliog [link] [comments]”

“Location: Nashville, TN Last few posts I’ve read about spreaders - some mention favoring their Elite vs previously using Echo. Though I did notice some Echo users needing to 3D print a particular part for it to work properly? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Anywho - I was given a rusted Scott’s SpeedyGreen 3000 a few years ago - I’m slowly getting into this lawn thing and I think it’s time for an upgrade. Thanks for the advice! submitted by /u/RockyTop_Vol [link] [comments]”

“New homeowner 1/2 acre Push or zero turn? Texas heat I was thinking the cub cadet 42inch zero turn or an echo push mower I can afford either one but It’s hard to justify spending $3900 rather than $600. But I know it’ll be more enjoyable every week to cut the lawn with the cub cadet vs pushing mowing for however long it’ll take. Also wondering if it’ll be a good idea to borrow a push from a friend to see what it’ll be like engine purchasing anything Thoughts? submitted by /u/MissionJ”

“Hello, I just bought a brand new McLane 20” 7 blade low cut reel mower. The first time I used it, one of the blades bent (from a freaking pebble!!!) and next, the reel belt started to shred?! Am I doing something wrong here? This is my first time with a mclane, I used to use a TruCut reel but it was time to get a new one… submitted by /u/funkyrickytime [link] [comments]”

“I had Palisades Zoysia sod installed about 40 days ago in the DFW area (Texas). I've followed the recommended watering schedule, and it had its first mow last week. My weed-and-feed company also came out around the same time. I've noticed that certain spots have gradually started yellowing over time. I've already checked my sprinkler coverage in those areas and the heads are working, but I'm wondering if those spots still might not be getting enough water or if this could be fert”

“Hi everyone, located in Napa Valley California I have a small 12 acre property that has an old weeded multi species lawn that i am going to replace. I am going to start by spraying the existing lawn with round up and then scrape the the top inch or so of topsoil and then till in soil conditioner before taking crack at Hydro seeding. My 1st question is how do i get this truly flat and level? Its pretty flat now but i want a really nice super flat lawn. It is about 2 acres of grass. next i am thin”

“My neighbor moved out and left me his lawn care tools (as he got older, I started to take care of our lawns so he gifted them to me to continue to mow the neighbors' lawns), specifically this brand of tools (Toro), but didn't leave me a charger or the batteries. Need help finding the chargers and batteries, or some kind of replacement. The image is from a video, which is linked here . “I had 700 sqft of Tifgreen Hybrid Bermuda put in back in 2017. We’ve now removed a flowerbed and are expanding the lawn area by about 3 feet for the entire width of the yard (adding about 100 sqft to lawn). The original provider of the sod from back in 2017 is no longer in business. If I buy 100 sqft of the same type of sod from a different vendor, a decade later, will it be a reasonable match for the original sod and eventually look uniform, or will there always be a noticeable difference betwe”

“Elite doesn't get the stripes. The plate is above the wheels. I got an elite from Amazon ~5 years ago (for ~$65) and switched from a regular stripey Scott's spreader.”

“Echo over Scotts. You don't need the 3D printed thing. I got one and actually prefer it as stock, but I tossed the original...meh. Still works better than Scotts. I tried 2 different Scotts, and both gave awful stripes...DLX and Elite years ago. I actually got more into liquid because I didn't want to use the Scotts, or pay for a nicer Lesco. I got the Echo on sale, only reason..”
