“I'm looking for help identifying what this is and what to do about it. AI can't decide and suggested three or four different options.”
“Hi - I live in Toronto and curious what I can spray to get rid of these weeds? I travel to the USA often so bringing back the good stuff isn't an issue. I recently picked up tenacity - is that enough? Had so-so results the last time I sprayed but then I stopped.”
“What is this light green stuff in my lawn. Is it new KBG that needs fertilizer or Triv? How do i get rid of it? These spots are scattered all over my lawn and grows faster than my grass (taller and light green). Location: Southwest Michigan (zone 6b) Lawn seeded with: PRG, KBG…”
Users struggle to identify specific grassy weeds in their lawns, with AI tools providing conflicting answers. The confusion stems from thin lime-green blades and thatchy areas, making it difficult for homeowners to select the right herbicides or treatments.

“Hi Guys, I have a rather ratty kikuyu lawn and I've noticed some rather strange weeds that are popping up in random spots (usually where there's been heavy foot traffic). It looks and feels rather like a single spring-onion stem around 2.5 to 3mm in…”
“I killed my entire 5400 square foot lawn (glysophate) about 2 months ago. Ripped most everything out and threw topsoil down. Finally threw down somewhere around 80 pounds of Pennington Northeast blend (Ryegrass, tall fescue, KBG). Overall very happy with the results, but I need help identifying this potential weed that's sprouting throughout the yard. Thanks in advance friends :) submitted by /u/Philly_Special_127 [link] [comments]”
“Thanks for that info! I didn't realize it was related to kgb. Does this look like poa? [re: Grass ID: Bentgrass?]”
“Recently reseeded/over seeded my lawn with TTTF in Los Angeles. Zone 10b. I was dealing with lots of burrclover last summer and basically stopped watering this summer and tried to start fresh in fall. A lot of the lawn is doing well but I’m noticing numerous patches of weeds popping up. I’ve tried taking it to chat GPT and it’s pointing me in a few different directions. Can anyone clearly identifying what I’m dealing with and next best steps? Total newb here but thank you!! submitted by &#”
“Is this ground ivy or creeping charlie? Found growing on edges of newly seeded lawn. Seeded 15 days and coming in nicely. What do I do with this? submitted by /u/rad10082 [link] [comments]”

“I've been pulling this up all over my yard. It grows across the ground from the center and seems to choke out any grass that grows around it. Pictures 3 and 4 are spots where I pulled it out. Not sure if it's related. What am I dealing with? submitted by /u/Archie_Woodhaven [link] [comments]”
“Hi. New (to me) house. The previous homeowner didn’t take care of the lawn at all, and I have this weed everywhere. Lawn, mulch beds, side of the house, etc. Any support in identifying, and what is the best way to completely reset the lawn? Kill it and then replant? I’m in New Jersey. “Noticed these brighter green patches coming up recently and not quite sure what this is. Recently overseeded with Blue Resilience TTTF but this stuff seems to be growing quicker than the surrounding grass. If it is, can I just dig that section out and re-seed? Is it too late to seed this fall? submitted by /u/derek231 [link] [comments]”

“It looks like absolute shit in a lawn. [re: Help Identify this weed please! It’s not creeping Charly. Location: ChicagoLand]”
“Looks like wild violet. I had some in my lawn and eventually crowded it out with overseeding and finished it off with a triclopyr. [re: Help Identify this weed please! It’s not creeping Charly. Location: ChicagoLand]”
“Look for help to identify this weed to kill it off my grass. Nothing I’ve tried seems to work and it’s been hard to identify what weed it is to kill it off! submitted by /u/PrestigiousPiccolo26 [link] [comments]”
“Just put down fall fertilizer a week ago, got a bunch of rain right after, now greeted with these... What are they? I tried to pull up as many as I could. Location: Southeastern Massachusetts submitted by /u/bmark0610 [link] [comments]”
“I aerated and overseeded a couple of weeks ago in CT and because of that haven’t mowed in almost 3 weeks. I’m noticing some of this bright green grass and curious to what it is? The rest of the grass is a blend of KBG and TTTF. Also, how can I get rid of it to make the lawn look more uniform? submitted by /u/Freezingblade491 [link] [comments]”
Orchardgrass. It's not Bermuda. [re: What is this growing in my yard?]

“Northern Virginia. Nuked lawn with glyphosate and reseeded with JG Sun and Shade, this came up in one area of the lawn as the grass germinated. Hand pull? submitted by /u/kevinmick03 [link] [comments]”
“I hand pulled a ton of weeds before my lawn renovation about 6 weeks ago but these little weeds keep popping up. Two different types from what I can tell. Anyone know what they are and how to get rid of them without hurting my new TTTF? submitted by /u/Affectionate-Pin2648 [link] [comments]”
“Initially my thought said Poa, but Google and Chat are saying it's either crabgrass or goosegrass. Now that it's fall here in the Texas panhandle they stick out like a sore thumb throughout the lawn. Can y'all help me identify it? submitted by /u/From_A_Star [link] [comments]”
“Not really, the grass stalk I pulled is a slightly different shade of green then the rest of my lawn but not as different as your image [re: Grass ID in 6A]”

“New lawn from seed is 2 weeks old today. In general feeling pretty good about it so far but am new to this. What are these random groupings of tall shoots of green grass or weeds? Should I get rid of them? submitted by /u/McGooglezzz [link] [comments]”
“I've noticed this throughout my newly seed lawn and am wondering what it is. It's growing in random sections of my lawn and grows faster than the grass around it. I did use straw when seeding (I'm never doing that again) and figure it came from that since it wasn't in my lawn before nuking it. I tried reverse image searching it and it kept saying it was crabgrass but it doesn't look like it to me. I attached some images of the yard and it's not noticeable unless walking t”
“My backyard is a mix of heavy shade and brutal all day sun. This stuff is growing in the mostly sunny parts here and there and appears to be spreading. Some of the ID apps have suggested Bermuda or quack grass? Thoughts from this community? submitted by /u/nzed35 [link] [comments]”

“Can someone help me in identifying this weed and what would you recommend on buying to get rid of it. It’s spreading alll over my rock bed and in other parts near my fence and cracks and crevices on my walkway. Zone 7b NJ Thank you so much! submitted by /u/Think_Catch_223 [link] [comments]”

“Zone 7b, central VA. I’ve got a bunch of this lighter green, coarse grass mixed into my tall fescue. Wider blades, thicker clumps, and it looks terrible compared to the finer fescue. Thinking it might be K31 or some other coarse variety of fescue, but I’ve also heard orchardgrass and bentgrass. I overseeded this September, but obviously that doesn’t get rid of the existing stuff. I’m considering nuking most or all of my front lawn next fall and starting fresh with a premium TTTF blend. What do y”

“Central Texas here, and I have Augustine grass on the lot we just bought. We cut the grass 2 weeks ago, and in that time. This stuff is growing all around the grass like crazy. Very tall, very quick to grow and afraid to cut it. Is this normal, will it resolve if I cut it? submitted by /u/Buuuuuurbybaby [link] [comments]”
“Never saw this before this year. it was really hot and dry in MN this summer, and now i have patches of this all over. Pics were taken a week after spraying with tryclopir. i went back after this with a broad leaf spray, but im curious what it is? seems to crowd out ALL of the grass in those patches. im sure theyll be bare in the spring submitted by /u/greasywallaby [link] [comments]”
“This weed has exploded on one side of my house. I've already filled two 5 gallon buckets. It has a very thick clump, seems to spread underground, and has the long seed/flower shoots. AI has told me crabgrass, deertongue, witchgrass, stiltgrass, and nimblewill so I have no idea. submitted by /u/CryptoBonkSignals [link] [comments]”
“Fathead weed with purple colour - didn't know what it was sprayed with. Any ideas? submitted by /u/maloosillberry [link] [comments]”
“It's long, wide, and grows longer than my grass blades. It doesn't have a "central clump" like crabgrass does. submitted by /u/SupermanJLogo [link] [comments]”
“I've got this popping up in multiple spots and it grows faster than the lawn so it looks really bad. My neighbor said it's nut grass but I'm not sure. submitted by /u/Due-Chipmunk1697 [link] [comments]”
“You should try taking a lower quality picture from farther away. But really, need closer pictures. This is hard to identify anything.”
“Looks like nutsedge to me, that stuff grows twice as fast as everything else and stands out like a sore thumb. The darker green clump in the middle surrounded by the struggling turf is textbook Don't bother pulling it, you'll just leave little nutlets in the soil and it'll be back in a week. Grab some sedgehammer or something with halosulfuron, spot spray it and wait like 10 days before you see it yellowing out Your regular grass will bounce back fine once that bully is gone, just do”
“Can someone help identify this grass? I’m in northeast Ohio. It is almost lime green, and pulls out easily. Seems to be growing in patches. It is far worse on the side of my house that gets very little sun. I have a TTTF lawn and these patches are very visible in the fall and spring. I suspect it’s POA or maybe something similar. I need help identifying it so I can buy something to kill it. I tried pulling it out in the front yard and it’s extremely time consuming. Thanks! submitted by ”
“In oklahoma. I believe it was introduced into the yard via some cheap grass seed this year. Has really spread all over the yard and is in dense, mat-like patches. submitted by /u/BearSharkTornado [link] [comments]”
“The second picture in definitely looks like what baby clumping fescue starts out as. I've dug up literal 1000s of sq/ft of it over the years. That thick stem and the way the blade breaks away looks like it.”
“Based in Southeast MA, and seeing that my recently overseeded lawn (TTTF - Resilience II) is being overtaken by this thick, grassy weed. Quick research suggests that it might be Nimblewill? Looking back at pics from earlier this summer, it appears that there were patches of this guy already in my lawn, but they've definitely grown bigger / more prominent since my seeding. It's a little bit tough to see in the third pic, but it's spreading quickly and definitely appears to grow in a c”

“It looks like Zoysia from what I can see. Check for runners along the edge. St Augustine has a wider blade of grass. If it has runners it could be Centipede. Honestly I would try Google Image search to see what it suggests.”
“Could someone tell me what this is? I’d appreciate any help. I nuked a section of my yard with glyphosate and seeded with Blue resilience and used Scott’s Built for seeding fertilizer/weed suppressant. The “tenacity” in it worked great everywhere so far except a small section where I’m noticing these and some other broadleaf weeds pop up. Is this poa triv? It seems to have a wee bit of a sheen on the underside, a seam running up the middle, and a purple base. Should I pull them? I seeded around”
“Where would I feel triangular edges? In the roots? Or in the visible "grass" blades?”
