“My baby is 3 weeks and I’m so over the Owlet. Literally every. Single. Night. the alarm goes off saying the sock is out of position on her foot. It scares the shit out of us. Anyone else have this issue? How’d you fix it? Just considering giving up at this point.”
Parents are grappling with a range of common infant challenges including ear infections, foot development, sleep disruptions during travel, feeding difficulties (sippy cups, bottles), and managing pets alongside a new baby. There's also significant anxiety surrounding safe swaddling practices and overheating.

“My daughter is 16 weeks old and recently I accidentally cut her finger with her nail clipper. Everything ended up okay but I probably cried more than she did and swore off using them ever again. The problem is I feel like I make no real change to the nails with her nail file or Momcozy electric one. The electric one leaves the corners pointy no matter what I do. She found her fist recently and often wants to put it in her mouth and she scratches her face in the process. Any tips are appreciated.”
“My LO will be 15 months in a couple days and we’re still not walking. She pulls up on stuff, cruises on furniture, walks when holding hands, and lives the push walker. She’s even started trying to push off the ground to stand! But she is not walking on her own. I thought this was pretty normal until recently. I was at a family thing and my sisters kid (11 months) was walking! I told her how great that was to have an early walker! She was confused and said this kid was the latest of all to walk (”
“TLDR: My 8-month-old had a hair tourniquet on one of his toes yesterday. I had purchased Nair with my first baby and kept the bottle in my nursery on advice I saw on Reddit, and it saved his little tootsie. He was overly fussy during his dream feed in a way that was completely abnormal for him. I went to change his diaper and on a whim, checked his toes. I saw a piece of toe-jam lint between his big and second toe, and at first thought it was nothing. On closer inspection, one of my hairs had li”
“Hi All, I have a baby girl due early December and have decided I’m going to use the Owlet sock, I’m just wondering if any parents on here used it the day they brought there little one back, It says there safe to use from birth being that there 5 pounds plus, im wondering will she need to be in a footless onsie to be wearing the sock and also did any other parents start using the owlet from birth? submitted by /u/Wooden_Explorer1056 [link] [comments]”
“I’m flying over the holidays with a 7 month old and am super nervous about him getting sick from travel. I found this study but am not sure I am interpreting it correctly or if it’s the best study to rely on…can I just spray everything (ie the stuff baby will touch/put in mouth) with a hypochlorous acid mist found on Amazon and it will minimize his exposure to viruses that are on surfaces? submitted by /u/athazen [link] [comments]”
“My son is 13m, newly walking, and the weather has finally shifted towards cooler weather so we are looking at getting some new sleep sacks for fall/winter. Because he's now walking we want to get some of those sleep sacks with legs. I'm confused though because I'm not sure what we're supposed to do with his feet? I know for a fact he's not going to keep socks on (it's a battle as-is) but I worry that his feet are going to get cold without something covering them. Do I thr”
“I have a 7 month old who wants to MOVE. He’s crawling, standing, just short of running if he could! Are there any baby walkers that don’t pose the danger of future hip problems?! Or anything similar so this boy can burn energy? 😅 I had one when I was a baby and apparently loved it, but I do have bad hips now! Any suggestions on gear or activities are appreciated! submitted by /u/AbjectDingo3804 [link] [comments]”
“Hey all! We have an international trip in February, Washington state to Brazil. Our little one will be about a year old at the time. I have a few questions for anyone who has flown or done long travels with a baby before. - Is the jet kids ride on suitcase worth it? I like the idea, and baby is already almost walking at 7.5 months (which is insane to type) so I feel like she could at least pull it around for fun. I’ve seen the actual luggage part is small, but we will be visiting her grandparent”

“Hi! I'm traveling out of the country for the first time with my 11 month old in a few days. We are flying out of US east coast to Portugal, a 7 hour flight with a 5 hour time difference. I would really appreciate any tips that will help the flight and her adjustment go smoothly. We depart 530p and arrive 530a in Portugal. What are suggestions to prepare her for this flight? How can I get her to sleep on my lap comfortably so that I can get rest as well? I have not done anything to adjust her”
“Almost 1 year old got her first illness two days into daycare. Hand foot and mouth. Why did I not know that it could cause high fever, vomiting, and diarrhea?! We had 3 days of that and now the spots show up. Worst thing ever 😭 We all also got sick, but not to the same extent. submitted by /u/rachelkochvt [link] [comments]”
“My lo is 17m old and the owlet sock is constantly reminding me that she’s almost 18m and shouldn’t wear it past that age. I have a lot of anxiety and I absolutely will not be able to sleep if she is not going to be monitored in some way. So what are alternatives to tracking her breathing? Maybe the Nanit? Although I was hoping for something that doesn’t have to be so clingy around her chest because her sleep sack now is so loose. And please don’t comment about finding a way around the anxiety. P”
“Before anyone comes at me and says I should get rid of it or see someone for therapy if I can’t part with it- my son has febrile seizures and they are often when he sleeping. This is the only device that will alert us if we do not hear it. And honestly, I don’t plan to get rid of it until he grows out of the seizures. So I’m wondering, has anybody made a DIY sock extension? They no longer sell them and he is getting too big for the 18 month old sock. 😭 Thank you so much in advance! ❤️ sub”
“Did anyone elses child suddenly increase their toe walking and grow out of it? My son turned 4 end of July and we have noticed an increase in toe walking. His Dr didn't seemed to concern cause he's meeting milestones, does great eye contact, know how to write his name and most his letters and can carry a conversation So we are wondering if this is just a habit he's picked up and may grow out of. He can walk flat footed if he ask him, he runs fine, not clumsy and he only toe walks if”
“Hello! We are going away in two weeks to Sicily with our baby who will be just 8mo when we’re there. I’ve got a few worries related to the travel days and also the actual holiday itself as follows (sorry for the long post, can you tell I have PPA?!) Travel days We’ve been abroad before when he was 4.5 months to Spain (we live in the UK so was only short haul as this trip will be) but he was a very different baby then! He was on 3/4 naps and I managed to get him to do some 30 ish min contact naps”
“For parents that used the sock with their kiddos, when did you stop? Was it age or development or something else that made you stop? My baby is 11 months old and I’ve been using it since she was a couple of weeks old. It’s hard for me to see a night where I don’t put it on her lol so I’m just curious when others stopped! submitted by /u/PumpkinPie_1993 [link] [comments]”
“My 2 week old is barely getting above an average oxygen reading of 95 at night and has dips into the low 80s on her Owlet. I can’t find anyone online with similar experiences. Should I advocate for better care? submitted by /u/Wrong-Bat-1212 [link] [comments]”
“For the past 24 hours, my baby keeps putting their index fingers into their ear(s). It seems to be mostly their right ear but sometimes both, and they are still doing it this morning. Based on other parent’s experience, has that this symptom alone been tied to an ear infection? Baby does not seem fussy, or uncomfortable laying on their side and does not have a fever or anything else that would cause me to be concerned. Has this been teething related for other parents? Baby has bottom two teeth a”

“My husband and I be flying (economy) on a 16 hours flight with our 3.5 year old and 8 months old (lap infant). I’m super nervous about breastfeeding on the plane and just having a lap infant for a long flight. We want to take advantage of not having to purchase an extra ticket. Anyway, I exclusively breastfeed and my tall baby is currently 17 lbs at 3 months, he’ll probably be around 22-24 lbs by the time we travel. I use a full size Boppy and Luna Lullaby at home but they’re way too big for reg”
“Hey guys, I’m wondering if anyone has any advice for an 11 month old who is getting tubes. He has had ongoing and recurring ear infections for about 3 months now and we finally got in with an ENT who scheduled him for tubes but it’s two weeks out. It is miserable over here. He’s also going through a regression on top of this. He is so ill like he’s in pain. His doctor said he has a retracted eardrum so there’s no medicine or anything that can help him until his tubes other than ibuprofen. He’s n”
“I have a 3mo old and we are flying across country in a few weeks. Oregon to Nj, so 2.5 hr flight and 4 hr flight. We currently use the pitcher method for formula bc it’s easiest for us! Especially when running around (we have the mom cozy thermos cooler thing). I’m torn if it’s going to be easier to fly with formula already made or having distilled water and dry formula…. Any suggestions for anyone who’s done either or both?! submitted by /u/Far-Camp-3725 [link] [comments]”

Checked retail stores and they are $39.99, so I decided to check FB Marketplace. There are a ton that say "Sound works, lights work, but motion does not work" and selling for about $10. I looked into this, apparently the gears can build up dirt, brittl”

“My toddler is in daycare, I’m due next month and I’m nervous about her bringing home bugs once the baby arrives. What did you do to reduce the infection risk? I’m not sure i can keep her home because i have no one besides my husband to help and he has only one week of paternity leave. Would love to hear what actually worked for your family. submitted by /u/That_Show7553 [link] [comments]”
“Hey all. First time dad here with a 1yo boy . Last night when I was in the shower with my boy he quickly stepped out and slipped and landed on the back of his head . He was sick immediately after so we called an ambulance who gave him the all clear . I’m currently consumed by guilt and feel so bad for not reacting quicker . We had had a few drinks in the afternoon and although I felt fine I can’t but question whether alcohol would affect my judgement and reaction time . This has obviously got me”
“Has anyone had a similar scenario travelling in a long nonstop flight with an infant? Any tips or moral support is appreciated as I’m getting anxious. Some of the stuff I already noted: - bring more bottles/diapers than I think I need - feed during take-off/landing for ears - screen time for certain high-fuss situations - maybe take a red-eye so that she sleeps for most of it? That’s pretty much all I have lol. I’ve heard from several people that we’re still in a “sweet spot” where it’s a tad ea”
“My little buddy is just over a year, and by god, he will not wear shoes. He’s beginning to walk, and I’m getting a little nervous about it. He pops them off faster than I can even comprehend. Socks get similar treatment depending on the day. I’ve gotten him to keep crocs on, barely and through sheer willpower, that my parents bought as a gift and they look a lot less silly than I thought they would, but apparently those are “terrible” for toddlers?! I’m at a loss. What worked for you guys, and h”
“Not sure if this is allowed but I’m looking for a nap mat for my 12 month old. She returns to daycare tomorrow and I was informed that she will be transitioned from the crib to using a nap mat. Any recommendations would be welcome! Everything I’ve looked at says it’s for either 2 or 3 and up and have pillows. submitted by /u/BTKUltra [link] [comments]”
“My sweet 4.5 month old boy has an ear infection. He got diagnosed on Wednesday and started amoxicillin 2x a day that evening. His fever finally stopped yesterday but he feels crummy. I mean, I’m guessing he does because he’s very fussy. Normally he’s a very chill baby. Cries when he’s hungry and tired and that’s pretty much it. But since then he will not calm down unless someone is holding him … but they have to be standing up and walking. Unless he’s asleep. And honestly we are kind of at our w”
“Ours is 4 months, extremely sensitive about his needs - any need not being met means screaming / crying very loudly. I am hoping by 10 months some of this would have calmed down, but as it’s my first baby I don’t know what to expect Share your experiences submitted by /u/umlok [link] [comments]”
“Okay so I am one of those mothers who had an overwhelming amount of anxiety about SIDS/suffocation when my child was a year or younger. Now, he is 17 months and 98th percentile so quite big, about the size of a two year old. We have to travel next month and he has outgrown a pack & play and travel crib. He will not sleep in a bed with me, so it seems my only option is an inflatable travel crib. Is this safe for a toddler his size? I know the SIDS risk is gone after age 2, but what about for”
“Hi! I'm just asking what your personal experience of your kids ear infections are. my 11 month old had an ear infection 3 months ago. Both ears are infected now. Did your child have ear infections so close in time? Was your baby also really sleepy too while on meds? submitted by /u/Killemwithsilence [link] [comments]”
“My daughter is 13 months old and couch surfs and stands assisted only on her tip toes. I’m trying to work with her to encourage flat feet and we put shoes on a lot which helps but I’m paranoid she’ll never walk. Did anyone have a baby that preferred tip toes and then just walked flat foot one day?? Need reassurance for my anxiety submitted by /u/Fit_Meat5285 [link] [comments]”
“So we’re gearing up for a flight across the globe and our son will be 18 months old then. We are flying overnight and this will be his 7th flight of his life, but he gets more and more challenging as the months go on. Typical toddler. lol Does anyone have any good toy suggestions? He loves to tinker, so we got this backpack with shoelaces to tie, clips, buttons, etc. all that good stuff. That’ll be brand new to him on this flight. But what else has worked for your active toddler? He’s a thrower,”
“I honestly wish I had a time machine to go back and never adopt them. It feels awful to say and to feel that, but it's the truth. One year postpartum and I still hate them most days. Every now and then I feel a bit of the love I used to, and then one of them pukes all over my baby's toys after eating something they shouldn't have, and I feel so miserable that I get stomach cramps. I know I'll get downvoted into oblivion because some people think that they're superior to other”
“My baby just turned one and I’m trying to get her off bottles and onto sippy cups but she refuses. She has been on the evenflo wide neck bottle. I’ve tried the dr browns milestones narrow sippy and the nuk tritain leaner sippy cup bottle. Anyone have any suggestions? She loves the straw cups and does fine with those. submitted by /u/Teacherteaching123 [link] [comments]”
“Hey everyone, my partner and I just had our firstborn unexpectedly early last week and I'm concerned about summer swaddling. Our bedroom gets to around 75°F during these summer heatwaves even with AC on high and I'm worried about our little guy potentially overheating. We have the muslin cotton swaddle blankets from Cloud Island (Target brand) however there's no TOG rating, are these safe to use if we have him in just a diaper underneath? He's still in his curling phase and I'”
“Hi All, Hoping those who have travelled with an infant before can provide some insight for our upcoming vacation! We are travelling to Barcelona for a day, taking the train to Toledo for a few days, then back to Barcelona for a few days before heading back home. What I’m looking to understand is what baby carrying items I should bring. We’ll almost definitely need to bring a car seat so we can cab from the airport/train station to our accommodations. Unfortunately this means bringing a stroller”
“We’re doing lap infant. It was just too expensive to get him his own seat with this flight. We do make sure we book a window seat though. That does help a lot!”
“No advice, in going to be in a similar boat as you in a few months. Did you get him his own seat or are you doing free on-lap? Im dreading our flight”
“That tray is awesome! Do you think it would fit on the tray table itself? We already decided his own seat unfortunately wasn’t in the cards, but I love this idea!”
“We did Canada to Australia at 17mo and honestly do anything you can to get him his own seat and have him in his carseat. My LO slept over 10 hours on the overnight flight and both me and my husband were completely free to move around and not nap trapped. If you do have him in a carseat then a tray similar to this https://a.co/d/0cIKZbyn was our best thing ever. The tray tables don't sit right for the carseat and so this gave him a way to eat and it was much cleaner and contained toys. We loo”
“My son had an ear infection in April and then just had another in June. The first infection was completely healed so the second was a totally new infection. He was not sleepy while on meds. In fact, he was pretty uncomfortable. We were giving him Tylenol and ibuprofen around the clock.”
