“I have been away from Notion AI for roughly one month, and I have noticed that the AI has gotten dumber and slower to respond. Is it only my feeling or does anyone else have been noticing this?”
Users are experiencing frequent and frustrating disruptions with Notion's integrations (Slack, Zotero, Claude/Cursor) and its AI features (Notion AI, Opus). These issues range from connection failures and error messages to inconsistent AI responsiveness and inaccurate information, hindering workflows and impacting productivity. The underlying problem appears to be instability and limitations within Notion's ecosystem.

“Is anyone else having problems with Notion AI with Claude model lately? I’ve run into some issues: Before it stopped responding, some replies became confusing and felt as though different models or assistants were involved in the same conversation—even though I had already specified the model I wanted to use. I can’t verify whether it actually switched models. That’s just how the responses came across, and I’m wondering whether anyone else has noticed something similar. I think that might be jus”

“When using Notion AI, when you select a block it is added to the context of the prompt window. That comes in handy all the time. [re: notion is basically my context + presentation layer now]”
“Small thing, but the label in your screenshot reads 'Default notion agent instructions' with notion in lowercase. I've never seen Notion write its own name that way. [re: Notion AI Chatbot Model Selection Issue]”
“It is good to hear that you have no issues at all. It might have to with your location too. In my case (in Europe), code sandboxes got reset several times. Notion AI had to reverse engineer from logged states and from chat history. It has reached a state that I could see the struggle, but the task was already at 95%... I did not even get a rolling quota warning - Notion had consumed the quota for two people in the workspace. [re: Smallest / cheapest LLM available in Notion right now?]”
“The selected model is not available in this conversation mode. I keep getting this message when I try to add more to a conversation. I haven’t done anything different with the conversation. Why does it say this and what does it mean? submitted by /u/ldotess [link] [comments]”
“Hmm. Have you tried pausing and resuming? If you delete your dot’s workspace, you’ll have to retrain it, but I would at least try to start and stop it, and send it a few messages. Something I was wondering was whether your timeout would last as long as you had been using it. I ran it heavily for ~12 hours, then got locked out for about ~12 hours. I thought that was a strange coincidence. If it took you a week to burn through your first batch, and you find that you got locked out for about a week”

TBF, this is happening a LOT less frequently than it did 3-4 months ago.
“notion's ai faq says an error can mean you hit the rolling six hour or monthly usage allowance. if you're on business or enterprise, check settings > notion ai > usage first. their status page had no ai incident logged when you posted, so it doesn't look like an outage. if it keeps hanging on those "following a promising thread" lines, i'd try one specific prompt that mentions the exact pages or database it needs so it has the right context. not sure it fixes the”
“that's a proper headache. notion's multi-workspace setup under one login has always been finicky with external integrations i ran into this exact wall a few months back trying to get a zapier flow to touch two workspaces. the oauth token is tied to the account not the workspace, so it'll only ever see one at a time. classic case of the architecture not matching how people actually use the thing one workaround that's ugly but functional, create a second notion account, invite it a”
“So this one is kinda related with my other post: Schedule tasks keeps forking into new chat, help! Right now, i'm trying to do what one of the commenters said to try using the Notion plugin as the source, so that whenever it forks it'll always be updated to things I have discussed with gpt. However for the past few days whenever it tries to update something for me in notion, it also asks for permissions to use google drive. It's totally unrelated and idk why its doing it. It keeps sa”
“I experience this A LOT during the work with Notion AI today and yesterday. When I try to do it again, it "thinking" for 5-10 minutes, and still going with "an error occurred" thing. It's so irritating, any ideas what to do? I noticed that it usually stacks not with the "working..." timer and list of tasks doing, but on the "Following a promising thread", "Taking the scenic route", "Puzzling through the details" etc... I absolutely”
“i have not been able to get the image upload working to the notion page from GitHub Copilot using the out-of-the-box notion http mcp endpoint. Has anyone had any luck with it?”
“I have ChatGPT pro and can say I rarely have issues updating things inside Notion through the connector even with somewhat complex requests.”
“I started with ChatGPT for integration. Found it unreliable. Switched to Grok and works great. Both on free plans”
“Yep, but now I see that it happens only on the desktop app. If I use web it's OK :(”
“ive had same problem for few weeks now. chatgpt keeps trying to use the web browser even when the plugin is connected and its driving me crazy what i found is you gotta be super specific in your prompt. like literally say "use the notion plugin not the browser" at start of every message. sometimes i even write it in caps because the ai ignores it otherwise also check if your database is shared properly. i once spent 2 hours troubleshooting and turns out my sharing settings was wrong th”
“But you are paying already notion business to have AI integrated, why paying 2x times something that you already have? What am I missing?”
“For my use case, it's really good news. AI models from the big labs are getting expensive. This integration brings ChatGPT's models into Notion, where my documents and other material already live. It uses Notion's own tools, which are better integrated than an MCP. It leaves my Notion's tokens intact as far as I keep using the ChatGPT integration. Sol 6.1 is light on token usage.”
“That's odd, I'm on a plus plan and connected my Chat no problem. Works mostly as well as the Notion chat”
“No, ask your AI how to connect it to Notion. I don't remember that shit out of the top of my head.”
“what do you expect lol? Not defending notion, but their “AI Plan” usage are jokes compared to what OpenAI and Anthropic offers, so if they actually allow everyone to use their ai subs, Notion won’t have any sub incomes. If you want chatGPT to interact with your notion, just connect their MCP”
“What a joke. 1. You need to use a business plan or enterprise to connect it. So basically, You need an AI subscription to use another AI subscription! 🤡 This would be useful if you could use it with a free or plus plan to save some money. 2. You need ChatGPT to be the same email as your Notion workspace. So if you have a different email, for many reasons, you can’t use your ChatGPT because it is using a different email. 🤡 3. You can’t use that ChatGPT subscription with Notion agents. Ok, if we”
“I suspect they change this soon. Business / Enterprise gets everything a touch later because the infrastructure is more complicated.”
“Yes. Its bullshit. Its like the integrations with google workspace only being supported on business workspace with custom @domain.”
“You need Notion Business/Enterprise plan to use your ChatGPT plan with Notion agent (which makes sense), but only individual ChatGPT Plus/Pro plans can be used, not ChatGPT Business/Enterprise (which makes no sense). So who can actually use this new feature? I wonder if ChatGPT Business/Enterprise plans will be also supported soon? https://www.notion.com/help/use-your-chatgpt-plan-with-notion-agent submitted by /u/Certain_Island9065 [link] [comments]”

“💡 Feature Request Introduce the ability to search into existing Notion AI conversations. Scrolling the list of previous conversations to find one in particular is, at best, painful.”
“It probably tries and then times out while the Linux sandbox is instantiating, and then it becomes impatient and fails. Claude does the same thing to me sometimes. I have skills that remind it of what tools it has including API access via the CLI, etc.”
“oh this is such a Notion thing to do lol. i get this all the time with the AI, it's like it forgets what permissions it has mid-conversation smart workaround with telling it to retry, gonna steal that. sometimes the AI just needs a little nudge like "hey dummy you can do this" and suddenly it remembers”
“You're not misreading your settings — this is a known flaky behavior with Notion AI's web access, not something you're doing wrong. The giveaway is exactly what you found: if simply telling it the setting is enabled makes it proceed, then the setting was never actually the problem. It was a state-sync hiccup — the AI panel checked a stale copy of your workspace settings (or the permission check failed transiently) and reported the wrong reason. A few things that reduce how often it h”
“Anybody else having this problem? I haven't changed or turned off any features, but when I ask Notion AI to do something that involves searching the web it's often (but not always) telling me that "Browser Access" or "Web Assistance" isn't enabled. When I check the settings I always see that it is, then I tell the AI that and it proceeds without issue. Now I've stopped checking and whenever it says something needs to be enabled I just tell it that it is and it”
“Every time I open Notion AI and do something: "wow this is actually useful" 3 weeks later: "where the hell was that conversation?" At this point I have so many chats that finding an old answer feels harder than just asking the question again. No projects to group it. No real organization. Can only fix so many things otherwise gets clunky. Just an endless list of chats... How is everyone managing this? Or are we all pretending it's fine? 😅 submitted by /u/sobb”

“Hi everyone, I’m having a strange issue with Notion AI and I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something similar. I’m a member of a Notion workspace, and Notion AI was previously working in the workspace. Around September 3, I started experiencing problems. Initially, the issue was that I couldn’t start a new Notion AI chat. When I tried to create a new thread, the prompt would not properly process. Interestingly, an existing AI thread could still respond for a while, so Notion AI was not co”
“I believe so, I asked them for this way back when they first implemented auto complete AI feature and since then haven't gotten any AI thing even on mobile.”
“They'll probably bury it inside a / command or something equally obscure, classic Notion UI shuffle.”
notion is the best... just ask support to remove ai from your account.

“The error has a documented cause. notion's own help says it can be a rolling six hour or monthly usage allowance. premium models also run on credits an owner has to switch on first.”
“Hmm ive been using it for many months now and no issues with requests. At least nothing the ai didnt solve itself without letting me know.”
“That makes sense. A single gateway for the human side could solve a different problem than the shared Notion page. I’m thinking Notion stays the durable workbench/source of truth — project state, outputs, handoffs, decisions — while something like Slack or Discord becomes the communication/control layer where the AIs surface approvals, exceptions, and completed work to me. That might actually be cleaner than trying to make Notion do both jobs. The piece I’d still want to preserve is the human ga”
“One thing to check on the automation route. Notion's help page says one automation can't trigger another. A recurring template won't set one off either. So if the memo lands in the database that way, the agent never wakes up. A button does trigger one. Restricted pages get skipped as well, easy to miss on a shared inbox.”
