Users are struggling to effectively manage tasks and deadlines within Notion, particularly concerning calendar integration and reminders. The current system lacks robust notification features, calendar synchronization, and the ability to easily translate action items into scheduled events, forcing users to rely on external tools or manual processes.

“You can get pretty close with a plain Notion database instead of Notion Calendar. Make a database called Days with a single date property, add a calendar view, and set its page template to repeat daily, so a blank page appears for each day without…”

“Notion Calendar kinda sucks, but I like the automatic turning on AI notes because it helps me to not forget to start that plus seeing time-sensitive tasks with a link to the database is great. [re: Notion Calendar iOS- How is it so bad?!]”

“I am just wondering if anyone knew how to fix this? Today is Friday, Oct 9 but Notion is saying that the 9th is a Saturday and that it is today. I contacted support and after a week of us trying to troubleshoot it (we tried everything), they said that they had gotten other tickets regarding this and that they were escalating it to their engineering team for further investigation. This is only happening on my laptop. submitted by /u/OGGuccikxss [link] [comments]”

“On Notion Calendar, if all of your events are on the same calendar, you can click on that calendar to show a sidebar with this information and pin it.”

“The single task database with a Project relation is the cleanest fix, then one "Assignee is me" view can go into Notion Calendar. Keep shared properties on the task and push project specific fields onto the Project page with rollups. If you keep fighting this, it's a sign the tool treats tasks and calendar as two separate things. I'm building UnaTask, so I'm biased, but there every task assigned to you is already a block on your own calendar, with no per database setup.”

r/Notion13d ago

“Problem When creating a new task, there is no option to assign it to a calendar. Expected behavior There should be an option to choose which calendar a new task belongs to, consistent with the web app, which already supports calendar assignment for tasks. Use case My setup consists of one private and one shared calendar. Without calendar assignment, there is no way to keep a task private — it cannot be tied to the private calendar. Assigning tasks to calendars would let me control the visibility”

“so i plan everything in notion but the only calendar i actually look at is apple calendar on my phone. which meant anything with a date in notion basically didn't exist for me unless i went and opened that page tried the ics export thing, it's one way and updates whenever it feels like it. moving an event in calendar did nothing on the notion side so i built calnio. it pushes your notion dates into apple calendar as normal events, and if you drag something to another time in calendar it”

For granular stuff like this related to a task I would put it in the body of the task or in a “notes” property. It’s got to be scalable so the properties…

“I have a recurring problem where I’ll save an event in Notion calendar, and then it’ll be added with a different time (and sometimes duration) from what I input. Sometimes it also appears to save correctly, but then if I refresh the page the time changes again. I’ve just been repeatedly saving the event until it saves correctly, but it’s a bit frustrating. Does anyone else have this issue/know how to resolve it? submitted by /u/Athor7700 [link] [comments]”

“I’ve been a user of Notion Calendar since it was Cron. Now, after the latest update, the Call To Action button to join a meetings it’s not the link to the meeting but a link to record the meeting in Notion. So that was the last straw for me. “Is it really not possible to add the My tasks -database/view into Notion Calendar? With the goal of showing only tasks that are assigned to me, without having to manage each and every different database separately in the calendar. This seems like such an obvious feature to work, but it doesnt seem to be possible to add it. And if not, is there any reasonable workaround? If I added every database individually, I would need to have a separate database view to filter only those tasks that are assig”

“You can add pages to an event (manage from Notion calendar) and add an event from a synced task database (manage from Notion) so you organize your agenda from both tools, works for me, could be better tho”

r/Notion21d ago

“Not really a clean way to reverse it that I've found. The calendar view pulls from a database, not the other way around. You'd basically be rebuilding whatever's on the calendar into a fresh database manually, which is a pain if you've got a lot of entries.”

“Short answer: no native fix — Notion formulas (including now()) recalculate only on page load or edit, never live. Your formula is correct; the platform is the limit. Three workarounds sellers actually use: Button re-trigger: wrap your Start in a Notion button that also stamps "Last ping" — each press recalculates. Not automatic, but one click updates all rows at once instead of refreshing pages one by one. Auto-refresh extension (desktop): a tab auto-reloader every 60s on your dashboa”

“To be clear, I'm talking about Notion workers that run inside and are managed inside the Notion platform. I haven't really coded anything since back in college when my first class was on punch cards. But I have a technical background, understand what APIs do and what they can be used for. So I put together a workflow with Claude connected to my Notion Workspace via MCP and Notion API and the Notion CLI to deploy NotionWorkers, which I understand run on an ephemeral Vercell instance. I ha”

“That’s a solid technical alternative! Cloudflare Workers via Notion API are definitely a great way to handle dynamic dates natively without hitting third-party subscription limits or UI restrictions. It’s probably the best route for users comfortable with lightweight API scripts who want a completely headless, zero-cost setup. Thanks for adding that to the options!”

“I totally feel your pain—coming from a technical background myself, I naturally lean towards Formulas for everything because they feel cleaner. But Notion Calendar's current limitation is a hard blocker: it simply cannot read dynamic Date Formulas. It only syncs with native, standard Date properties. “Unfortunately, Notion Calendar’s mobile app doesn’t show event dots on the monthly date picker at the top—it’s strictly meant for quick navigation, unlike the main Notion app's calendar view. Right now, the only real workarounds are: On mobile: Swipe to 3-day or week view to get a better overview of your schedule. On desktop: Zoom out to the full month view, which actually shows all your scheduled blocks across the month. If you specifically need that monthly "dot overview" on your”

“Hello! Exactly as the title sounds- I have my daily work shifts being put in by an automation with a formula that occurs every sunday morning, but these events do not show up in my notion calendar app, which i use for the widget. Everything looks fine in notion itself, and i only have 1 calendar database and it is set to visible in notion calendar, and any event i put in manually shows up in notion calendar just fine. “im not exactly sure if this is within scope, seeing as one could programmatically copy a note and change the dates with, say, a bash script but it would be nice to see a repeat property for events that could accept either natural language (like every week , every second month ) or some sort of concise syntax (like d for daily, w2 for every second week, m3d4 for every third month and every fourth day so on) the start and end times of the event would of course stay the same, in the calendar they w”

“Your three item dashboard still surfaces things because you go and look at it. a date property in notion pings nobody on its own. you open the date on a page and set the reminder there, row by row. that's why most dashboards stay silent. reminders aimed at another person only work in a page, the help doc says they don't work in a database.”

“The main one i'd like is 'the last working day of the month' as I have some bank charges that always occur on the last workday of every month. but a list of ones that might be useful is: The nth day of the month (for example the 2nd tuesday of the month ) n days before the end of the month (for example the last day of the month , or 2 days before the end of the month) The last working day of the month The last friday of the month”

r/NotionSep 14

“Month view needs one page per date. Repeat will not paint the whole month. Materialise a few weeks or keep duplicating.”

r/NotionSep 14

“I’d keep the real deadline as the date property and use a second property for follow-up or nudge dates. That keeps sorting tied to the actual due date, while reminders can move without changing it.”

r/NotionSep 5

“The start date is a useful extra distinction—it shows when the task becomes actionable, rather than only when it’s due. Thanks for explaining how you handle it!”

r/NotionSep 4

“I just use the deadline field for the real one and chuck the nudge dates in the page body or a comment, then set a reminder in the calendar view off that. Two date properties felt like admin for admin's sake. When the nudge passes and nothing's moved I usually just bump my reminder a couple days and ping the person again. Not exactly elegant but it stops me forgetting it exists.”

r/NotionSep 4

“Best bet is a single database if you want to look at it all at once. Now about all those properties. You need to decide which ones are properties that are pulling their weight in in a database and which ones are just providing information for humans to read. If it's just for humans to read, they could probably be elements on a table in a template for that type of item in the database.”

r/NotionSep 3

“Two options as I see it, there's not really a good way to combine databases in Notion: Bring all your databases with dates into Notion Calendar, which can display everything side-by-side, note that this will only live in Notion Calendar and not be visible in your Notion workspace. Try to get one "thing" per database - "Plants" has details related to plants, "Skincare" has details related to skincare, "Tasks" has details (and interactions) related to ta”
