“Hello, whats the best way to Sync my files between my pc and laptop (sadly I cant pay for obsidian Sync) have tried protondrive but its a lil bit weird”
“How to synchronize the windows taskforge with android taskforge? Also is taskforge fully functional without obsidian? [re: TaskForge 3.0: a task and calendar app that works directly on your Obsidian vault, now on Windows, with note editing, daily notes and bulk task editing]”
“Syncthing gets you selective sync across Linux, Mac, and Android without much fuss. Setup takes a minute but once it's running you forget it's there. Unraid has a community app for it too so it slots right in. [re: Unraid equivalent to Qsync]”
Multiple ObsidianMD users strongly suggest using Syncthing to synchronize notes between Linux desktops and Android tablets. They praise its ease of configuration, speed, and reliability, even extending its use beyond Obsidian note folders. Some caution against combining multiple syncing methods.

“Syncthing peer to peer. Rather than Foldersync which whilst works gave me problems when used with OneDrive folders. [re: Rambling into obsidian daily note is the best habit I've built these 2 months]”

“I sync mine using Syncthing outside of Obsidian and it works wonders but I have been looking for Proton Drive. Going to follow the progress.”
“I want to try obsidian and want to store my files in S3 and auto sync with my other devices, and I don’t want to pay obsidian $4/mo and I want to own the data. I heard LiveSync and Remotely Save are options but LiveSync apparently doesn’t keep your files as plain MD and Remotely Save has a very bad risk score on the site. I’m not sure what options exist for a well trusted mainstream sync plugin that can scale to almost $0 idle cost on AWS. Can someone help me with advice? submitted by ”
“On desktop sync works perfect but on mobile Proton Drive doesn't offer you a way to sync a folder so if you really need to use both devices you need to sync it in a different way. Hopefully Proton hear this and support this android/iOS feature”
“Self-hosted Live sync + Raspberry pi. I sync between linux desktop, graphene os smartphone, mac air and ipad through tailscale. works flawless.”
“Either way. You can configure which files you do/don't want to sync for each device.”

“Syncthing is better if you can configure and manage it. Rclone is not a sync application, it is a backup tool. rclone will do the job but can lead to files overwrite in few edge cases if you forget and run a command on an older content device. And this is my gdrive based sync plugin for obsidian: https://www.reddit.com/r/ObsidianMD/s/cMVfDxcnsQ But I would still suggest syncthing if you are comfortable with it. I use syncthing for other content synchronization across my devices and rclone for 32”
“Definitely agree, keeping one source is key. You might also want to check out Syncthing for Linux; it can handle syncing across multiple devices smoothly.”
“The most important thing is to select one device as th "Canonical" source ad sync all the other devices to it. You do not want a situation where A syncs to B syncs to C syncs to D syncs to A. You want it to be A syncs to B, A syncs to C, A syncs to D.”
“Use syncthing but dont forget to split dotfiles for both pc and tablet. This helps to prevent conflicts Settings > Files and Links > Override Config Folder I usually use .obsidian for pc and .obsidian-tablet for my tablet. You can use same. And also if you want to backup, you can use rclone with cronjob or systemd service it depends what you want.”
I use the github plugin, works great , the rest with rcopy.
“Syncthing works fine, that's how I started doing mine a while back and haven't had any issues. I would caution against using multiple different syncing methods simultaneously, though. I've heard stories on here of folks getting files deleted or corrupted if both methods try to sync at the same time.”
“Oi, eu uso o Syncthing e acho perfeito, muito fácil de configurar e usar, uso até para coisas além das pasta do Obsidian, a sincronização entre os aparelhos é muito rápida, em segundos já tenho as alterações sincronizadas. Recomendo 👍🏾”
