“Had a new Rinnai combi-boiler installed today, and I noticed that there is slight weeping where the male pipe meets the female elbow just above the boiler itself. I’ve since shut the boiler off, but am curious if this is also carbon monoxide risk until I can get the company out…”

“My mother recently had the return pipe replaced in her home. The service guy replaced it without sloping it towards the boiler or flushing it. I have no expertise in this field, but I read that it should have a slope going towards the boiler…”

“I am almost positive in thats not a steam line. If it is, the return is essentially the worlds biggest condensate trap and the system is doing nothing. If its a hydronic heating line, grade doesnt overly matter as its pumped and moving anyways. As for the air bubbles, there should be air bleeds at the highest points on hydronic systems, and steam doesnt give 2 shits about air pockets. [re: Need Advice on Return Pipe to Steam Boiler]”

“My mother recently had the return pipe replaced in her home. The service guy replaced it without sloping it towards the boiler or flushing it. I have no expertise in this field, but I read that it should have a slope going towards the boiler to stop the water from settling and to prevent banging of the pipes. I also read that the pipe should be flushed and/or filled with water to prevent air bubbles? Idk, feel free to correct me. Attached are pictures from the boiler leading up to the return pip”

“I moved into a house with a incorrectly plumbed hydronic system, It is a 2000 SqFt home and it has a non-condensing Crown AWI128 cast iron boiler running LP. The basement is in-slab radiant heat and the upstairs is baseboard. At some point the radiant heat was disabled because the water in the loop was running too hot. This also dumped a lot of cold water into the boiler on start-up. Flue and damper were replaced at some point from the condensation. A sketch of the layout is shown in the first i”

“My boiler is acting super weird and will just run non-stop - I found if I give that silver box outlined in red a tap/knock it then finally turns off - my thermostat upstairs also is saying it’s 88 degrees but it’s more like 60 and freezing - the silver pipe also gets really hot - I’m ending up just turning my entire thermostat to off Please help - first time home owner and can you some advice Is this an easy fix? Also this thing looks old - how much is replacement if worse comes to worse Thank Y”

“Bought a new house with all brand new plumbing, no one said it had to be up to code. My suspicion is that the small water heater serves to heat the entire kitchen sink because it’s not pulling water from the house water heater. Idk man, this is whacky. Can I still change the faucet and just make all the same connections? submitted by /u/Ojosdelsolsi [link] [comments]”

“I moved to a new house last year, 2 floor house where I got boiler replaced together with three big radiators upstairs. At first there was too much air trap and my radiators were rattling when the heating was on. Rattling has gradually gone after constantly releasing air from radiators but constant drop of water pressure continues. I haven't found any leak under the boiler or under any radiators so far. I've got expansion vessel replaced too. How can I diagnose the problem? Pressure drop”

“Hi guys, I have a Protherm Panther Condens 15 KKO-CS/1 gas condensing boiler connected to an external hot-water tank. Recently I had a leak, they replaced a safety valve... but I wanted your opinion on the pipework. Bunch of techs already commented that it looks bad but other than that looks fine... that was two techs already... but earlier this year when there was a problem in the building and another tech looked at it he said it needs to be redone and that the pipes might clog and it could flo”

“Planning on having a plumber come and inspect but wondering what the experts here think. For some reason our house has a second hot water heater on the 2nd floor that (as far as I can tell) only provides hot water to 1 downstairs bathroom. The other one in the garage does all the rest. A few months ago I started sometimes hearing some pipe noise (hammering) only when flushing the toilet in the bathroom off our bedroom. The other day I decided to run the water in the sinks of the other bathroom t”

“This is a mess of an installation and I would seriously consider repiping the headers. Unthreading iron pipe on a heating system isn’t for the faint of heart, this is a hard job. I put these in professionally and wouldn’t bother trying to unthread these joints without taking the whole header off and putting it on a vice. There should be 10” minimum between the circulator and supply/return header. And you should really have true primary/secondary your setup is relying on your boiler to double as”
