“I swear ever since this update every other order I go to has already been picked up. There is no way that it's people. People are steering stealing orders this much. Is anyone else having this issue?”
“Issue is, DoorDash always gets normal prices at restaurants and bumps it up over 10%. So it's kind of pointless. [re: DoorDash gift cards on Chase offers - 10% off]”
“Square and google already offer no cost direct ordering . The problem is the delivery. In my town, offering delivery would be a money loser. [re: What has stopped you from moving repeat customers from delivery apps to direct ordering on your website?]”
Restaurant owners are investing in direct ordering platforms to avoid commission fees, but these platforms fail to attract customers. This leaves them with lower prices and no increased order volume, negating the intended benefit of bypassing third-party delivery services. The lack of visibility and customer acquisition is a significant hurdle.

“This feels ridiculous. It’s EVERY SINGLE ORDER I get there and one of the orders hasn’t even been started. Every. single. store. Migrated over from UberEats looking for a slightly less scummy company and lo and behold. same bs. submitted by /u/Tigereye017 [link] [comments]”
“The amount of offers I get for way less than a dollar a mile and amount of times I sit in restaurants waiting for orders is wild. Not worth sitting in a restaurant for 10+ minutes for a 6 dollar order, especially when it’s paired with another delivery. submitted by /u/Disastrous-Record-39 [link] [comments]”
“$2/mi is good for single customer restaurant orders but what is your minimum for double batched orders. They take about twice as long, but $4/mi seems like a lot. What do you guys do? submitted by /u/Gengar_Guy_17 [link] [comments]”
“And I’ve never seen an order more than $.50 a mile (most way under) there. The 37 mile offer I got was for $6.50, but I guess I didn’t screenshot it because I can’t find it. Idk how people make money in that area. I lived there and drove 30 minutes everyday to where I currently live for better orders, all over $1 per mile because it’s very congested. The only decent orders had pickup downtown, aka parking blocks away 50% of the time. submitted by /u/Olive-Yew [link] [comments]”
“"One thing I'd look at is whether the reward is obvious in the moment. A QR code in the bag works best when the offer is concrete (a free side on your next direct order, say) and when ordering direct is actually as easy as the app, because people will take the path of least thumb-effort. Also worth asking yourself: do you have any way to reach those customers again once they order direct, like a text list they opted into? Without that, the QR code is a one-time nudge instead of a habit.”
“Well, I dont, and my money is worth as much as yours, and if I want to order in person with a live person not a stupid quiosk or app, then I should, and I make sure companies know [re: Free food because I refuse to download the app]”
“I have a client who owns several donut shops. Trying to keep track of the DoorDash, GrubHub, UberEats expenses is maddening. I keep encouraging the client to add me to those accounts as a user so I'll receive the statements, but that hasn't happened, so I need to reply on the client uploading the statements after I request them multiple times. [re: What are industries you absolutely avoid like the plague?]”

“Outside of select markets ie, California, New York, Seattle, doordash generally pays 2$ per order or 0$ for stacked orders. I feel the need to put this out there because I have seen a lot of misinformation about this lately. If you've ever wondered why somebody sat with your order on their screen for 15-20 minutes and then unassigned, if you didn't tip or tip much the driver decided it was a better use of their time to take a break and then unassign when allowed (after 10 mins at pickup)”
“I did a trial run of Uber delivery and was quite disappointed to come to find out that when you sent an offer, it includes the tip amount. I do wonder if drivers are doing rides and deliveries at the same time or choosing particular peak times for either/or to maximize their income. submitted by /u/HighDroLicks [link] [comments]”
“Who doing 60 deliveries in 2 days???? Who doing that for $1 more a trip in 2 days? Is that even really a thing? Where I live I can’t imagine the full timers are taking that many orders. Can anyone share your experience because I know I’m not accepting this challenge 🤣 submitted by /u/Tee725 [link] [comments]”
“They offered me a "BONUS" (first ever in my market that ive seen btw) and its for 60 DELIVERIES IN 3 DAYS LOL. And only for $60 honestly im a 5 star platinum dasher in my small rural town market and this is and absolute joke of a challenge bonus. What do you think? submitted by /u/VisualsOfSoup [link] [comments]”
“I was just about to end my night too. And got a good order 3 mi 11$ still in my neighborhood to head home right after. But I should of ended it right before that offer like I planned at least I could of had a chance to cash out. This is why I cash out daily on every app you never know when they will pull something like this. Stopping you from getting paid. And seriously at this time. After dealing with the hurricane in the golf coast. Hopefully its just about all the items that are not available”
“Hi, we just opened a business in a strip mall between a Chipotle and a pizza place that both do huge Door Dash numbers. We all share the parking lot and there's a fire lane that runs along the front of all our businesses, with plenty of NO PARKING signs. Door Dashers are literally leaving their car right in front of our door. Today during a lunch rush, one sat there for over 20 minutes. I've told the land lord, informed the managers and now I'm considering politely asking each driver”
“Most owners I talk to get stuck on two things: the apps keep the customer’s contact info, and they assume they can’t offer delivery without the app. You can. Take orders on your own site or a simple order link, and use an on-demand delivery service just for the drop-off, so the customer pays you directly and you keep their info. Then put a card in every app bag with a small discount for ordering direct next time. (Disclosure: I run UniHop.app , which handles that delivery part.) [re: What has st”
“been running a quick service spot since 2017 and this year supplier prices were all over the place. had a couple items jump like 20-50% and i didnt even notice for weeks cause i was just going off the monthly numbers from my accountant started going through every invoice and comparing to the last price, and doing food cost every week instead of monthly. caught a few things and just pulled them for the week instead of selling at a loss lol anyway curious what everyone else does. weekly or monthly”
“Customers that order within deadzones cost. Us. Money. Having to sit on the phone with support while the order still sits open on my app, the customers dont understand we cant confirm the mile from 3 miles away. Ive been on hold with support for 45 minutes after begging this customer to let me use their wifi to confirm the order because I have kids to feed. I have had 6 orders in the last 4 hours that were in deadzones and I had to either beg to use wifi or sit on the phone with support. Idk if”

“many people aren’t interested in you SPECIFICALLY. they use a delivery app because it’s a big aggregator for lots of choices in one place. [re: What has stopped you from moving repeat customers from delivery apps to direct ordering on your website?]”
“I think DoorDash needs to reevaluate their shop and pay. There is no reason people should be ordering a weeks worth of groceries on DoorDash. That’s what Instacart is for. I feel like DoorDash shop and pay orders should be for a few items that you might need in the moment. Or if DD isn’t going to do that then they need to start giving these large item count orders to people who are delivering in vehicles. DD should know by now that a large majority of delivery riders in NYC (Bronx, Manhattan, Br”

“Yes, back when I still did Uber Eats and DoorDash. I was partnered with Menufy who would still route the orders to DoorDash drivers, and cut the fee down. Conversion isn’t great, as I expect most people using DoorDash and Uber Eats use for convenience, and price is secondary as a consideration. I can’t remember the roi, but it’s a cheap move that can potentially make a little more money while giving your customers exposure to anything else you have to offer [re: What has stopped you from moving”
“I dont use any of that. Sounds like a head ache. [re: What has stopped you from moving repeat customers from delivery apps to direct ordering on your website?]”
“Thinking out loud here, since delivery app commissions seem to be unfavorable economics, what’s stopping you from using the apps mainly for discovery, then gradually moving repeat customers to direct ordering? For example, putting a card/QR code in every delivery bag offering a better price or reward for ordering direct next time, then using something like DoorDash Drive/Uber Direct or another courier service to handle the actual delivery. If you’ve tried it, did customers actually switch?”
“Well it looks like Uber is being unethical with their pay with everybody. Even restaurant owners. submitted by /u/Floral-Babe-0296 [link] [comments]”
“I'm fed up with getting sent to a specific restaurant that doesn't even start the order until I arrive. How hard is it to send orders out AFTER orders are ready for pickup? I've asked support to block this restaurant twice and they said they can't. It's a Greek Pizza restaurant that makes me wait anywhere from 10-30 minutes per order. submitted by /u/CONN_ECTICUT [link] [comments]”
“I just read that Walmart Plus orders are delivered by doordash. Originally, I thought that the monthly fee covered the wages of the delivery driver, in the same way Amazon does. But now I am learning that Walmart fulfills their orders through doordash, which means most of the pay would come through a tip. Is this correct? I am horrified, as I have been tipping minuscule up until this point. Furthermore I am reassessing the feasibility of Walmart+ as a money saving option with the cost of tip for”
“Was Dashing earlier today and got a stacked order. The app made it appear that both deliveries were nearby. I can’t believe I fell for that again. After dropping off the first order, the second order turns out to be 20 minutes away, in a High Rise in Atlantic City. I always decline orders to AC. The city just isn’t worth the parking hassle, and if you’re really unlucky you get some clown wanting you to deliver to them in the middle of a casino. Sure, they tip $20 but the parking is $15. Anyway,”
“Does it happen? For context, it’s a $15 shop and deliver offer with two items one of which is a case of water - 5 miles submitted by /u/Texjbq [link] [comments]”
“I Got to a busy pizza place for a pickup and they kept me waiting ten minutes, then the manager exasperatingly told me that another dasher had picked up my order like 12 minutes ago, and this has happened to them before. Irritating. If this common? submitted by /u/KaptainKershaw [link] [comments]”
“We only sell whole pizzas. We got an UberEats order for “a slice of pepperoni” my chef said “send it bitch!” submitted by /u/NotSoGentleBen [link] [comments]”
“Let's be clear about what you actually did. You didn't just steal a meal. You stole the time of the person who ordered it and waited an hour, hungry, watching a map dot that never moved. You wasted the restaurant's food, labor, and ingredients. And you wasted the time of every driver after you who had to pick up the remake, drive it across town, and clean up your mess for a fraction of the pay. One selfish choice, and the damage ripples through half a dozen people who did nothing wro”
“This is actually pretty close to what I had in mind. Curious about the chef arrangement. If that hibachi menu became a top seller, would it still make sense to be paying the chef per order long term? [re: Would you let someone else create a menu item for your food truck if you got paid per order?]”
“Title. I'm used to getting batch orders during pick up, or on my way to the store, but literally as im dropping off 2 separate orders i get multiple $3 offers. All of them asking me to stop by another store for another drop off. Of course this somehow counts against us. Obviously I declined, but losing 3% off AR makes me think how long I can keep putting these orders off. We do have the 2x sunday. However, it just feels pointless if its only used to catch up stats you were forced to lose. &”
“Uber Eats Deliveries only. Found an area where customers actually tipped well. I also noticed that I get a lot more tip increases after delivery from Uber than I do from doordash. Like, a lot more. So much more that I can't help but suspect that DD keeps adjusted tips. I think I've only seen 2 adjusted tips from DD in the past few months, while I've seen 25+ from Uber. It could also be from Uber's ability to leave a nice message after delivery explaining where the order was left,”
“I’m investing in my friend’s food truck business and this was one of the things that came up when we were exploring extra revenue. Interesting take on delivery, do you think delivery apps are worth it early on? [re: Would you let someone else create a menu item for your food truck if you got paid per order?]”
“Seriously, think about this. Drivers provide the cars, gas, insurance, maintenance, and labor. Restaurants cook the food. Customers pay for everything. Yet somehow the people doing the actual work seem to have the least control. What if somebody built a delivery app with a completely different business model? Here’s the idea: $8 minimum base pay per delivery, with mileage adjustments. Drivers keep 100% of their tips. No acceptance-rate games or punishment for declining orders. Restaurants pay ar”
“I'm curious on other people's experiences... Is it normal for delivery drivers (for the restaurant, not like DD) to do prep work at restaurants? I just got a job at a pizza restaurant and I'm a delivery driver, they're making me do prep... Is that normal? Partly chose to be a driver because I didn't really want to be in the kitchen. Thanks for your time. submitted by /u/EntertainmentJunkie1 [link] [comments]”
“I’ve had 5 orders in the last week already picked up by the time I get to the store. Door dash tells me to have them remake it. They refuse and I’m stuck with no pay. Starting to get really annoyed. submitted by /u/AgentRandyBeens [link] [comments]”

“Now I know where I live so Ik we’re not exactly a model city. And frankly the dd orders aren’t too bad sometimes, but others are straight up money and time wasters (especially from the McDonald’s around here). So I definitely don’t have my expectations set too high for most orders lol. I know that’s not the case with bigger cities but this just sad but also more so hilarious who do they think we are sometimes? “Option A isn't really how it works on the DoorDash marketplace. Customers already pay DoorDash's delivery and service fees and your commission comes out of your payout, so there's no way to bill it to them separately. For B, the DoorDash sales channel on Shopify uses your Shopify prices. Change a price in Shopify and it changes on DoorDash too so there's no separate markup setting. Duplicating products and publishing the marked-up copies only to the DoorDash channel does work. Th”
“Considering enabling DoorDash for our store, and curious about their pricing (options?). I saw their generic commission model in the onboarding information document. I would like to either a) have their fees be billed separately to the customer, or b) increase my product’s pricing for any sales made through DoorDash. Basically, I want to be kept whole on all sales while leveraging their platform for local deliveries. Does anybody know if scenario A is an option? It’s preferable so that I can mor”
“I’ve heard this was coming and this showed up in my area this morning Thought it would could be a really good idea there’s a section of town where there’s two restaurants I just don’t deal with so I just stay away from that area This should open up and allow more deliveries in theory It says when you get an offer from one of those restaurants decline it and then you may get an option to order from that restaurant for 14 days Of course I got an offer from both places you guys tell me do you think”
“I work in restaurants in Ontario and I’m researching how independent restaurants handle refund/error adjustments from Skip, DoorDash and Uber Eats. Do you review every adjustment or only the larger ones? Who usually handles them — owner, manager, accounting? And what part takes the most time: finding the charge, asking staff what happened, checking receipts/evidence, or something else? I’m trying to understand the workflow before deciding whether an idea around this is worth pursuing. Not sellin”
“-There is a long wait at the restaurant -You mark the order “still being prepared when I arrived” -App tells you thank you for letting us know -They still mark you late These restaurants are mostly at fault because they give unrealistic prep times. Even under optimal conditions (restaurant is not busy at all) they usually don’t have the food ready in time. They give short prep times because they want the driver there to pick up the food before it’s ready so it never sits. They don’t care about w”
“I know we all don't have a lot of love for the third-party apps - neither do I. But, consumers are addicted to them and their perceived convenience (despite the added costs). Of all of them, ezCater is the only one I actually refuse to work with because they are so intensely and openly hostile to restaurants and drivers. Frankly, in my 10+ years in the industry, they solidly take the crown as the worst vendor I've ever worked with prior to leaving. That said, I'm a bit intrigued that”
“Yes. It’s hard to compete with Pizza Hut and dominos. It’s just so easy to make a phone call and get it delivered to your front door. And volume. You order 10 pizzas from one of them, no problem. You order that many from somewhere that can only cook 6 pizzas at a time, it takes 10 minutes a pizza. It can get difficult. Not to change your mind, just some things to think about. “hello, this is an update to one of my post called “DoorDash sucks part 6” im making this post because a lot of you were confused and called me crazy for thinking “bring back the old system“. I didn’t mean the OLD system where you need a 50% 75% AR rating. When I say old I meant to how it was last week. the first image I got from digging up in my photo gallery, that image is how it was before in my area. Now the second image is how it is now. Notice how it says 75 for gold instead of 70? Now I go”
“I noticed with the new ratings system that if you take less than 200 orders a month you lose up to 5 points. I usually take about 100 orders a month as a part-time job and while I'm in no danger of losing my Platinum status, it just seems unnecessary to lower the rating of highly rated and conscientious drivers like me who only have a few hours a day to drive. First world problems I guess... submitted by /u/NoFly676 [link] [comments]”
