“Usually what cameras do people use to shoot the content? If any of you guys know or do content please help me with devices under budget?”
Several new YouTube creators mention using specific cameras (DJI Osmo Pocket 4, Nikon Z8, Sony A6300) and microphones (Blue Yeti), often highlighting the challenges of filming wildlife at night or improving their video quality. Some express a desire for better equipment to enhance production value.

“Hey guys, I recently started filming content with a DJI pocket 4 and a DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro. Outdoor content specifically. The quality of the cameras is great. I've been compiling footage but I don't know what to do come the video editing part. So I've just left the footage on storage devices etc. I currently have a Samsung S26+ phone. If I'm trying to be on a budget and not break the absolute bank to start out what are some reasonable options for video editing? I been”
“if you're shooting outside all day the power bank is totally the move, nothing kills a flow faster than watching the battery tick down while you're in the middle of something. i waited way too long to grab one and regretted it almost immediately the open-ear buds are a solid call too, i tried using regular ones once and almost walked into traffic so i get the appeal”
“I shoot on my phone outside most of the day and on a new-channel budget. I spent a while deciding what to buy first. I landed on the two things that kept a shoot from collapsing: an Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro so the phone doesn't die mid-take, basically a second battery living on the back, and soundcore AeroClip 2 open-ear buds so I can hear the environment while filming and still take a call without stopping. The tripod and SD reader came later, and I edited on the phone for the first mon”
“We started pretty simply with an action camera and an iPhone, and over time added a drone. We run TacosTravel from Cancún, Mexico. Our focus is practical, boots on-the-ground travel content , beach conditions, sargassum updates, hotel areas, destinations around the Riviera Maya and Yucatán, and detailed guides based on actually going there ourselves. Our latest video is a good example. We returned to Playa del Carmen to document how the sargassum situation has changed since our summer visits. Ra”
“Looking for recommendations or tips and tricks We have been strictly using my iPhone 16 pro for our content. We also use the DJI OSMO to stabilize the camera. However the camera and DJI mount are kinda big when using. How do you really get those close up penetration shots when filming? I would also like to film more from the like rear side angles. submitted by /u/Therealtorimarie1 [link] [comments]”
“I’ve been using a DJI Osmo Pocket 3 with a wireless mic for most of my videos, but I’m curious what everyone else is creating with. Are you filming on a phone, camera, GoPro, or something else? What do you use for audio and editing, and which piece of gear actually made the biggest difference in your content? I’m especially curious whether your most expensive purchase was worth it or if something cheap ended up being the best thing you bought. submitted by /u/TDoubleDownMac [link] &#”
“hi! i'm a very new lifestyle (long-form) vlogger and after just 6 videos, i've managed to secure ~800 subscribers, ~90,000 views, and average tend to hit 1k views on a video within a day! i'm super happy and lucky that i had some success in youtube -- and i think i wanna invest in a cheap but good lifestyle vlogging camera. does anyone have any recs? preferrably something small, portable, where the camera can flip easily! thanks so so much!! submitted by /u/Delicious_Tabl”
“Hi, we are TacosTravel. We started pretty simply just a GoPro and an iPhone. Over time, the gear improved, but the idea behind our channel stayed the same, practical, boots-on-the-ground travel videos from Mexico. We live in Cancún and focus mostly on the Riviera Maya, showing what places are actually like rather than just making cinematic highlight reels. Our latest video is about visiting the Tulum Mayan ruins completely on our own, without a tour. What sounded simple turned into confusing ent”
“I started with 2 cheap Temu dashcams and a knock-off microphone that sounded like I was recording underwater. My early videos are extremely low quality and never caught on with any audience. Got plenty of complaints but with that equipment I was able to get 5 documentaries done. Now I have a HyperX mic and Canon camera and a more powerful PC. But I still need a good webcam. My channel is Virtual Road Trip, I'm not really a newtuber since my channel is over a decade old at this point but I st”
“I have a Sony a6400, do you think adding a Tamron 17-70 lens and DGI RS 4 mini gimbal would be a good set up? I plan on making a docuseries type format, shooting both interiors/exteriors. submitted by /u/No_Temperature7602 [link] [comments]”
“I checked it out and thought the quality of the shots were great for starting out! I would focus more on clear audio! But it looks great! Pacing of different shots was also good.”
“Hi all! I started (and am still using) my six-year-old iPhone SE to film. I use my (also six-year-old) MacBook Air to edit. It's rough out here ngl, but I've been in college and didn't want to drop money on a new phone, camera, or laptop. Now that I have a full-time job, I might upgrade! If anyone has any suggestions on new equipment, let me know. I make mostly craft and productivity content, but today I posted a vlog from a trip I took this summer. It was really fun to experiment. If you didn't already vlog on your iPhone, did buying a DJI actually make you start and stick with it, or did it end up unused? Has it genuinely changed how much or how well you vlog? What can a DJI do for vlogging that an iPhone can't, and is it worth the investment? Does dedicated gear make any difference to becoming a vlogger, or i”
“POV: Left my fulltime job - to pursue content creation - no budget restriction. I already have an Instagram + YouTube channel and want to upgrade my video setup. My content: Weekly YouTube tutorials (x1 a week) Vlogs documenting building my SaaS, with a slightly cinematic feel Regular Claude/AI tutorial Reels Proper studio lighting already sorted (key + backlight) Currently using an iPhone 17 Pro, but I’d like a dedicated device for video Would you stick with the iPhone 17 PRO, get a mirrorless”
“I’m a content creator (just hit 100K subs on YouTube + @shai.hq on Insta) and recently left my full-time job to become a full-time creator. Now I’m planning to upgrade my camera, but I’m super confused. I’ve watched a bunch of comparison videos, and honestly, I don’t see a huge difference between the ZV-E10 and the iPhone 17 Pro. What should I be doing? My priorities: Instagram (I post every day) YouTube (starting with 2 videos/week) submitted by /u/shaikrish [link] [comments]”

This will happen in Eastern Europe but I plan to talk in English (not too much because highlight of my channel should be adventure and pov view, sounds of nature and not vlogs). I would like to hear suggestions about content, what to do and what not to do. I don't expect to earn too much, just want to present my activities. Issue could be that I can't upload daily, it will be 2-3video”
“What cameras are these fishing YT channels using? 2 go pros, one for the chest mount and one to vlog? Or what? submitted by /u/Necessary-Green6803 [link] [comments]”
“Nice vlog! I'd say I wanted to see more of the locations you filmed. If you panned the camera as you filmed, I think it would be better.”
“Thank you so much man! Still very new to video so a lot ot learn, especially being natural on camera. I used the DJI osmo pocket 4 for all the filming of myself. The wildlife content (day and night) are all filmed on my Nikon Z8 mirrorless camera. The night wildlife shots are filmed while I was holding a torch in one hand and focusing the cam with the other haha”
“Just watched the longform one all the way through. I liked it! Love your pacing on the edit and text placement in the living room scene. Plus the wildlife love stuff is so cool! What camera do you use for the night wildlife stuff? Definitely gave me man vs wild and survivorman vibes. Love those shows when I was a kid! Great job man!”
