“Dude actually, your commentary is pretty funny, and not overly annoying lol. I like your vids so far, and I think you have a good baseline for the future. [re: Self-Introduction Saturday! Tell us all about you (and share a video)!]”
“No, I appreciate the input. I just need to figure out a way to make something like that work. With an episodic series, the idea is that they're watched in order, but you're right that I could lose some viewers who want to watch a video, kind of one-and-done Only issue with that…”
“Well, I'm also a rookie here. But i think understanding your audience here is the major part. What kind of content is getting more ctr and things like that.”
Many new creators are experiencing difficulties growing their channels, facing challenges like inconsistent content creation, lack of direction, and competition from established accounts. Some express frustration with the process and seek advice on starting and improving.

“My channel is The Feral Homebody. I make cozy vlogs that err on the side of realistic, not overly polished. I think that is going to be my biggest hook is that the life I live and show is not perfect, but it still has a lot of beauty. I only filmed 2 or 3 videos on my iPhone 14 before I was gifted a dji pocket 3! Still learning the best way to use that. I believe that my channel will grow to be fairly similar to other cozy/confort type channels but the difference in my channel and others will be”
“No, I appreciate the input. I just need to figure out a way to make something like that work. With an episodic series, the idea is that they're watched in order, but you're right that I could lose some viewers who want to watch a video, kind of one-and-done Only issue with that is the longer the series goes, the more summarizing I will have to do before each episode.”
“"Last time on" still makes it feel like you have to watch the one before, and it's not worth watching this new one. Something more like "this is the story of a man who is lost on another planet". Potentially even a little more detail. Think almost like a Star wars style intro, it explains what is going on, where you're up to, and makes it so you didn't have to watch the one before. Text scrolling on a screen in a cinematic way is an excellent way to achieve this.”

“Hi! I'm Anna. My channel is about gaming, kpop, and hot takes on current trends. I give my insights and opinions without any bias. I uploaded my second video today; I hope you like it! („• ֊ •„)੭ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxTdWNv8IMg”
“Your videos look great, man. Really well polished, and you do a great job narrating. Mine look like garbage. Watching other people's work is more discouraging every day.”
“Hey I know it's been like 9 months now, how is ur channel going? Are u still uploading videos?”
“Their comment: > Jfc, you just blabber through that whole video. It sucked. My response: > I’m so excited! Been making tons of these videos and finally got my first hater! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤️❤️ ❤️❤️❤️👾👾👾👾👾 Figured the excessive emojis would REALLY make ‘em mad lol submitted by /u/Ohigetjokes [link] [comments]”
“Hey man I enjoyed this video. Its not overly long and explains your observations very clearly. This is more a tip for growth rather than anything wrong, but saving the asking people to like and subscribe for the end could be brought forward a bit since that’s when people tend to click out anyway? Like you tied it into 47s neck leaning so you could have been cute about it and did it when you mentioned it earlier. But either way, great video and best of luck!”
“If it's an ecosystem around your garden, if you see the same animal more then once you could name them on the channel or ask for name suggestions. Then people can get invested this way and you build recognition. Jerry or Rick the moose won't be on every faceless channel”
“Hello, everyone! I go by Kennerz and I started with my phone, my laptop and DaVinci Resolve. On my channel, I do music, anime and gaming content depending on what I’m feeling like. For music, I have two different series called PolyJAMourous and New Beats. PolyJAMourous consists of album reviews with a potential history lesson and New Beats is pretty self explanatory. For gaming, I’ve been playing Stardew Valley and Fields of Mistria as of late, but do have plans for other games in the future. Th”
“Hey everyone! Been lurking here for a bit and figured this was the best post to jump in on. I'm SoraRabbit and I've been planning on starting my channel for years now after running a blog for over a decade. I finally got the confidence and motivation almost two weeks ago to launch my channel. For equipment, my wife and I went half and half on a cheap Canon G7X, which I hope to upgrade at some point. I got most of my other equipment from my family over the course of the last few Christmas”
“Holy shit, how do you only have 1sub? Your clips are actually pretty decent? Lol. Keep it up, and maybe posts some videos on Youtube and other platforms. You got a great baseline.”
“I like the idea of keeping art vlogs slower and more calming instead of trying to match the pace of Shorts. That could become a nice identity for the channel, especially with the student perspective. I’d be interested to see how you balance the actual drawing process with the atmosphere of the places you visit.”
“Yeah, I understand u. My 1st video sucks too. But the 2nd video that i'm doing right now looks pretty much better, cause i worked so much on the hook and first 3 minutes.”
“Hi, we're Dean and Bean! We're a small gaming channel, just started making videos in the past few months. We focus on cozy/retro games that do not get the spotlight they deserve. Our channel is almost exclusively live commentary playthroughs, which means very minimal editing. We would love if you took the time to give us any feedback you may have or insights to what we can do better. We make our content using OBS for recordings and Davinci Resolve for editing. Our content is all original”
“Hey there, I'm Korogator and I focus on classic, early 2000's Let's Play content with a modern twist, adding sound effects, memes and fast cuts to increase the pacing of games that are usually rather slow. I started taking this a bit more serious last year, but the very first few videos I uploaded are already like 15 years old. I made Minecraft videos were I showcased my buildings, they were huge "temples" as I called them. I didn't have much, just a crappy laptop and a”
“Hi there, What's your channel? I'd like to check it out. I'm up for brainstorming etc but most people have jobs and a life before youtube. Doesn't mean you're a casual or hobbyist but it's reality. Maybe it's good to team up with other young people who don't have responsibilities yet and have time. I've grown my new channel to 1210 in about a year. The big hurdle is having time and energy to make videos but also overthinking sometimes. I'm in the off grid/”
“that's nice! I'm also doing something very similar, hope you're channel grows? would it be okay if you tell me your channel?”
“Hey everybody! I'm TheAutisticScyther and I make countdown videos on many things I like, largely video game, Pokémon, Fire Emblem, and anime countdowns, but there are a few non-countdown videos that I make as well. I mostly film my videos using only my Android phone, of which I may need a new one soon, but many videos I make are just me in my room, showing my unadulterated, unfiltered, natural autistic self. That being said, I just recently filmed my latest video about the Top 10 Animals Tha”

“The video was so peaceful and I defo agree on the audience for restoration being bigger. I would say some voiceover i think might help retention in the video as it would be a good learning opportunity for me to gather some understanding if i wanted to do the projects myself, even a bit of low level music for ambience - if thats what you are looking for! (this was for the ireland restoration) Best of luck to you!”
“I mean, uploading your content and getting attention and all that. Would you say there were signs that it was paying off, or was it more of a slow burn kind of thing? submitted by /u/DollarCoinAudio [link] [comments]”
“Yep, just be consistent on the upload and you'll get views soon enough ( ╹▽╹ )”
“That's great! You should be proud. I definitely think you should go for it. You already know how to make engaging videos and keep people watching. In my opinion, reaching 4,000 watch hours is a much more achievable path than trying to hit 10 million Shorts views. For your next upload, I'd try making a longform video. It doesn't even have to be very long. Like I mentioned before, you can still turn the best part into a Short to help drive people to the full video. The nice thing is, y”
“Honestly this is a good one. I think it has potential as you’re genuinely interested in it AND there’s nostalgia factor. Wish you all the best.”
“Adding a disclaimer to the start would be a good idea yeah. Shouldn't make much of a difference from YouTube's perspective, but it will to your viewers -- I'm the type of guy who *needs* warnings for specific content, and I always appreciate when people take the time to flag stuff like this that tends to be upsetting. Also, coming from a film background, it might be worth hopping on filmfreeway and seeing if there are any other festivals you could submit your film to.I've just fi”
“Hi, firstly I think PS Stu is a memorable name! And the idea behind the channel is fun + you’ll have a lot of material to work with. I think my main critique would be that I feel like the achievements you’re chasing after should be considerably more emphasized throughout the video. Maybe as you’re explaining the process of getting a certain achievement, you could have it large at the bottom of the screen, and then when you get it, you could put a green checkmark with a sound effect and then add”
“Hello, I found this vlog charming! I think the music choices throughout were a good choice and give off a cozy vibe. I think things you could try to take these to the next level, should you desire, are 1) to learn about some rules of cinematography. Try to get some more varied shots in terms of angles, distances, etc to spice up the visual storytelling. Since you also like to use text, I’d look into 2) learning a bit about typography to see which fonts you could use to give off more of the vibe”
“How funny, I just found out my channel turned 1 yesterday haha. So started with zero, reach the 4000 watch hours a few months ago and am no way near the 1000 subs 🤣”
“I was just thinking where I would like to be on my YouTuber journey a year from now and was curious to hear about everyone’s one year progress! submitted by /u/NoLychee1382 [link] [comments]”
“Try to find a fun side of this and enjoy making videos! ☺️I’ve uploaded my first video just for fun, then forget about it for couple of months.. after I got few first people comments it will motivate me to continue. Hope it works for you too!☺️🎶”
“Hello everyone - my name is Rob and I've just started my own Minecraft channel. I'm not a big time designer, but a grassroots gaming player who actually tries to play the game. I've started a new channel called HypeCraft and am looking for any feedback or thoughts on the first video. https://youtu.be/Rrgvf4zhkTM”
“Yes. That's essentially what I did on my channel. I post a combination of let's plays and guides. Doing guides about a game you do a let's play helps build an audience for your let's plays.”
“If one person enjoys my video all the way through, I'm happy. I don't have much feedback on my channel, but what little I do makes me happy to keep doing what I do.”
“during my early days of trying and teaching youtube, i was assuming the first 30 seconds were for warming up. spent way too long easing into videos before getting to the point, lost more people there than anywhere else. wish id figured out sooner the first 30 seconds is the only part where youre still auditioning”
“Numbers are fine for month one. The thing nobody's said: stop looking at totals and find your single best video, then check its click rate and average view duration in Studio. Whatever that one did, make three more like it.”
“That's fair, I haven't any experience with YouTube algorithms. I still want to make them, but I can always wait to post them for later, when I'm more comfortable with my channel. But, could you elaborate why you feel this way?”
“I haven't posted any movie reviews yet. But, that was the plan, yes. I'm in the middle of editing one as we speak.”
That's great feedback. I'll definitely put more effort there
“Seems like such a hard thing to do now days, all groups are closed off or like you said as well. Youtube discord are well overrun with people promoting their own work but not wanting to talk to anyone”
“Hi! In this thread I'll be providing channel feedback and answering any questions I can. About me: Some of you know me, as I am fairly active on this subreddit. I have been a full-time YouTuber for about a decade - I personally run a million sub channel, which at this point is mostly a passion project, and lead a team which run a variety of other channels. My main gig now is as a paid consultant and producer for corporate entertainment clients -- I currently run 5 of those channels, and 4 ha”
“I think an important thing to keep in mind especially early on, is try to make videos that you like and would have fun making even if they don't get a ton of views. A new channel is more of a hobby than anything- channels are born because someone thinks "oh it would be cool to make videos like this" and then goes about doing just that. It doesn't mean that you shouldn't think about improving or how to grow, but ideally make videos because making them is fun, then it'll”
“My niche is quite specific but it’s confusing and our videos are unscripted and chaotic, so I’m with you in spirit :)”
“Please state: your no. of subs long-form or shorts? what did you post previously and what's your new content? what's the reason for the gap? how do we find you If there's good interest, I'll make a group for us to communicate in and support each other to kick-start our channels again. Probably a group with various niches so we can go deeper into helping each other in our niche. Ok, let's start submitted by /u/navnt5 [link] [comments]”
At the end of week 1 I had 1 sub At the end of week 3 I had 100 subs.
“hi and ggs!! that's awesome growth :) a question I have: I've been posting mostly Baldur's Gate 3 gaming content (meme edits/reactions/etc) with Minecraft mixed in here and there, but do you think it'd be better to just make a separate channel for the Minecraft stuff? those 2 groups don't really mix and while my Minecraft content usually gets a sub or 2 each short, I don't believe they'll stick around for BG3 (and vice versa) content even if I'm the unifier”
