“why is replies and likes not separate toggles?? I get a pop up notification every single time someone likes my comment and it's so annoying. I'd love to know if someone replied but I don't need to get a notification every single time a comment gets liked, it's so obnoxious”
“I already knew that there was a banner of this type when you’re the 1st, 5th or 100th like on a video but apparently it also happens if you are the 67th to like something I hate this meme”
Several users express frustration with YouTube's notification settings and how they impact engagement on smaller channels. They find it difficult to manage notifications and feel the system penalizes creators with less visibility.

“Everytime I make a community post there’s always this popup that goes “ReMINdER ThAT EvErYoNe CaN SeE YouR PuBliC PoSt” like no shit youtube I know that. Why do you think I’m posting it? Is there a way to turn this stupid feature off cuz…”
“What a frustrating platform. So a few months ago YouTube added a feature to constantly spam your notifications whenever your comments get a few likes. Issue is, you can't turn these notifications off separately, if you want to turn them off you also have to turn off reply notifications alltogether. This is incredibly bad. I want to see replies, but I don't want to be spammed for every two likes I get on a random comment, I do not care. Why is it so hard to make a good settings menu where”

“If you are bothered about the notifications, just delete the app and watch in your browser. It works fine, and then it doesn't matter how many channels you are subscribed to.”
“I have all notifications off and I've started getting random notifications like this recently.”
“For the past month or two Youtube has been giving notifications for your comments reaching a random number of likes. This sounds like a sound idea if you are a complete ape who has no idea how the notification area works. Like 90% of the notifications I get are: "You got 3 likes" referencing a comment I made when dinosaurs still trode the earthen soil. Who tf thought this would be a good idea? Can we please have someone tweet them and tell them to remove this? submitted by”
“Is there a way to turn off "You got X likes" notification? On desktop specifically, or better yet account-wide, on everything. This stupid and useless notification type completely flooded notifications, pushing out actually useful ones like new replies or new videos. No, I don't need to know that my random comment got 5 likes... No, I don't need to know that some comment got X likes for the 4th time... I already checked the notifications control menu. The only entries it has: S”
“For a couple weeks now the youtube app, as well as the website, have been sending me notifications for each and every single like I get on my comments. I have posted a couple of mildly popular ones recently so it's been dozens upon dozens of identical notifications every day, which are push notifications on the app. I thought there would be a way to split the notifications between comment replies and comment likes but no: they are governed by the same setting, so you either turn both off ent”
“I'm admittedly very low-voltage on social media anyway, but now it seems every time I sign on there are several notifications that just say "Your Comment Got A Like" or something like that. Is this something new for the engagement engine? Did I somehow get a setting reset or something? Assuming I can turn this off in settings if it's a new default. submitted by /u/BaronVonLongfellow [link] [comments]”

“The relatively new style of notifications saying "x number of likes on y comment" is awful. It's easily tripled the number of notifications I get spammed with. Before, I just occasionally got told that a comment got liked. It may already have 1000 likes or maybe none at all, but the odd sporadic notification would let me know. Now it's like the algorithm has chosen ten comments to track at time, and by god it will flood me with updates, each with their own separate notification”
“It happens to me, too. It's always AI-generated stuff, too, so clearly YouTube is desperately trying to figure out what they can generate for clicks. I will never click on them, because that will only encourage YouTube to keep doing it.”
“For example all activity on comments is grouped together, so if you want to be notified about people replying to you then you will also be notified for every single like that you get. I wouldn't mind seeing notifications when my comments hit thresholds like 10 or 100 or 1000 likes but I really couldn't care less about going from 17 to 18 and it's crazy to categorize that as equivalent in importance to a reply. submitted by /u/Fakjbf [link] [comments]”
“Seems I can only turn activity off for all. I like seeing comment replies and responding. But likes? I get a ton of them daily on my comments I leave across youtube so its just flooding my notis with them submitted by /u/Swordfish353535 [link] [comments]”
“Yeah ikr like if I already have more than 1k likes I don’t need new notifications per 10 likes”
“Funny enough, because I was really active in comments sections of some content now they send me alot less of these compare to before because I used to be drown in notification for just 50 likes when now it really only notify every other day.”
“I made a dumb throw away comments on a baseball video and its garnered alot of likes, its gets liked once about every 15 minutes and i keep getting notified about it, and i want to turn off the notifications for this specific comment, but it only gives me the option to turn off ALL my notifications. Period. This is so unintuitive. submitted by /u/teddysonic13 [link] [comments]”
“I don't fucking care about my comment reaching 31 likes. Shut up already. It's clogging up my notifications and I'm sick of it. submitted by /u/Cherno_VM [link] [comments]”
“These notifications feel like the serve no real purpose. I can only disable "reactions to my comments" as a whole, which would include replies as well which I want to keep on, I just don't want to get a notification for "2 likes on your comment" and such... submitted by /u/Mortal-Instrument [link] [comments]”
“So it seems THEMtube in their infinite wisdom has introduced a new function to force on users. This being notifications when your comment gets likes. I don't gaf about that. I DO care to see if someone replies to something though. I checked to see if I could turn it off in settings but it says: "Meddela mig om svar, gilla-markeringar (...)" (translation: notify me about replies, likes) under the SAME button. How do I turn off the likes-notifications without turning off reply notifi”

This started happening recently and it's absolutely annoying. I don't need to know people liked my comments. Stop! submitted by /u/TLunchFTW [link] [comments]”
“Does anyone else find that the notifications (on the app) have become so tiresome? You now get notified for almost every like on your comment when earlier (even a month ago) it was just for replies. Is there any way to change this without muting notifications entirely? Thank you submitted by /u/Time-Explorer-1295 [link] [comments]”
“It's fun to join discussions, but once I make a popular comment or reply to a popular comment I get bombarded with notifications. It makes me regret ever commenting.. I have to choose between getting all notifications or none of it... and it's truly mind boggling why youtube wouldn't let us mute activities for specific threads. Hell, you can't even mute notifications for when other people reply to the same comment. 🤦♂️ I hate this! submitted by /u/CombustedPillow [l”

“Is there a way to turn off notifications for replies to the same comment that I replied to on Android? I still want to receive notifications if someone responds to MY comments, but it's annoying how every time I reply to someone's comment, I get notifications for every other person who responds to the same comment as me. From what I can tell, it looks like I can either turn off all reply notifications, or leave them all on, but no option to only get notifications for replies to MY commen”
“So suddenly my YouTube notifications are buried in likes. Things I actually care about are lost because YouTube has decided I need to be be notified if any comment I've ever made, going back to the beginning of time, is liked by someone. It's pure noise. This started happening fairly recently. It tried to turn it off, but comment replies and likes are grouped together. If someone replies to my comment, that's a conversation. I'd like to be notified so I can follow up on it. If so”
“also when you receive a comment notification but it's just someone replying to a comment you replied to (why do I get notifications of this)”
