“I have a 2.5 feet X 11 inches tank. Planning to put congo and neon together .. will it be a problem ? Do congos eat shrimps ? Usually for such a large tank, planning on aquascaping how many litres of aqua soil would be needed to create a slope ?”
“as the title says i have a 100L tank (61 x 31 x 63). and i have some questions. how hard are they to keep as pets? how many can i keep so that they are comfortable? what plants do i need to buy to give them shelter? what other types of fishes can i keep in with them? i am not…”
“Also let me know if these species are 100% compatible as i researched but google cant always be trusted. I was planning on a tank with 2 bichir, 1 african butterfly fish, 3 leopard bush fish, and 4 saimese algea eaters. What dimensions for a tank would I need. I don't want a…”

“Hello! My newly cycled tank finally got its first couple of friends. 4 male platy and 6 khuli loaches. I was thinking of getting a school of tetras and some scalar fish (ive been told theyre good to keep the tetras to stay as a…”
“I’m getting a tank in a few months and I’m planning the stocking, so far my plan is 9 clown kilifish 6 sparkling gourami 6 otos some shrimp amano and 9 cpd but I want to change the cpd but idk what to change them to im looking for a active mid level fish that schools and won’t bother any of the other fish and is less or equal to 2.5 inches max and not like 20 a fish (CAD) any ideas are appreciated submitted by /u/Ok_Top6537 [link] [comments]”
“I constantly see people warning never to mix Black Skirt Tetras with Angelfish due to fin nipping, but my setup is doing amazing with zero issues. I introduced a medium Marble Angel named Oslo to my established school of 8 black skirts in a 35 gallon tank, and they are completely peaceful. It works perfectly because keeping a full school of 8 tetras keeps their aggression focused on their own internal pecking order instead of other fish. Plus, introducing a sturdy, medium sized angel rather than”
“I currently have 3 sparkling gourami in a 20 long. I know neocaridina shrimp is risky with them but I was wondering if anyone had any insight to how they were with Amano shrimp. There are no other fish in the tank but I will be adding Pygmy Cory and rummynose rasbora, as well as 2 more female gourami when my LFS gets more in. submitted by /u/Thrashing_Tigress88 [link] [comments]”
“Looking for advice on which community fish to stock my 40 gallon breeder with. The tank has been running for a little over 4 months and is currently stocked with my lower quality neocaridina shrimp. This is what I’m thinking currently: 15 to 20 green neon tetras 8 albino corydoras 8 corydoras of a different variety 1 honey gourami 3 nerite snails + however many neocaridina shrimp How’s the bioload? If I wanted a second algae eater, could I also do a few amanos without it being overstocked?”
“I would like to add 5 chili rasboras to my betta tank. I have never tried cohabitating a betta with something other than snails. submitted by /u/Even-Grass9662 [link] [comments]”
“I have a 20 gallon tank with lots of plants and driftwood, amd currently i have 3 young male guppies and 1 female betta who's very friendly and enjoys her buddies. I'm also planning to get 6 pygmy corydoras and a few neocaridina shrimp in the next couple weeks, but i really want more fish. Will my tank be fully stocked after the new additions, or will it be ok to get a few more fish? I originally got the tank to keep all male guppies but fell in love with the betta at the fish store, and”
“Hello! I was sold these two Gouramis last week for my 20g tall. The owner of my LFS assured me that they should be in pairs and will do well together. But is this fighting/harassing? It doesn’t happen all the time, most of the time they stay separate. Also can anyone tell me if they’re both male? It seems they are which I’m assuming could be the cause of this. submitted by /u/Socialeprechaun [link] [comments]”
“Can my shubunkin have tank mates, if so what other little fish can i put in there ? submitted by /u/_enyaaa_ [link] [comments]”
“I currently have 10 cardinal tetras 8 lamchop rasboras and 10 neon tetras (for now😒) I also have 10 neocardina and I’m wondering at what point is there too many I wanna add a school of ember tetras aswell but I also want room to add more of my current fish especially a few more rasbora since I’ve lost 2 of them submitted by /u/Zealousideal_Fly2533 [link] [comments]”
“Today I have realized I should do a lot more research before purchasing certain fish because my LFS failed to tell me that tetras can be aggressive towards guppies. I have 2 white skirt tetras and 2 glo tetras (I have now also realized they need to be in larger groups.) I recently bought fancy male guppies in a group of 5 and off the bat I noticed that one of my glo tetras was starting to chase them around. I started to get worried but I had to go to work, and unfortunately I came home to one of”
“Anyone able to successfully keep cherry shrimp or other neocaridina shrimp in the same tank as Bolivian Blue Rams? Its well planted with lots of rocks and spaces to hide (so I thought) but the rams have really done a number on the shrimp population. Do I have an overly aggressive ram? Any tips? submitted by /u/RealDudro [link] [comments]”
“i have a heavily planted tank thats 60x45x45 and wanna add two koi angelfish and a school or ember or neon tetras (i already have four bottom dwarf corys) and a small pleco what do u guys think submitted by /u/CommissionLimp8955 [link] [comments]”
“Looking for one last type of fish for this tank. Currently stocked with 3 blue mystery snails, an army of ramshorn snails, 3 amano shrimp, 16 black neon tetra, and 10 dwarf neon rainbowfish. Ammonia, nitrite, and nitrates are all at 0 for months now, pH is 7.4 and the tank sits at 75 degrees. I've heard pearl gourami can handle almost any parameters, and are very peaceful fish. I was thinking of getting a trio, but was wondering what everyone else's experience with them has been. s”
“Looking to get some experience on what Blue Eyes will eat in a tank. I have a 40 gallon cube that I was thinking about adding some rams to. I expect fry as I have gotten fry in the past. I would love to add some smaller schooling fish and love the look of Blue Eyes. Are they aggressive egg or fry eaters? submitted by /u/Juiceboxtiddys [link] [comments]”
“What are some tank mates that my zebra danios won’t bully? I would prefer something hardy and at least somewhat active, a big reason we have this tank is to give my 8 month old something to watch. Either colorful or active, something that will catch a baby’s attention. I don’t want to talk about my tetra experience ☹️ something hardier than them please! submitted by /u/rueinkpot [link] [comments]”
“I’m setting up a 10-gallon freshwater tank and was thinking about doing a small group of pygmy corydoras with Neocaridina/cherry shrimp. I was considering around 6–8 pygmy corys and starting with about 10 shrimp . The tank will have driftwood, rocks, plants, and a filter with a pre-filter sponge, and I’ll make sure it’s fully cycled before adding anything. Would this stocking level work well in a 10 gallon long-term? Do pygmy corys generally leave adult shrimp and shrimplets alone, or should I e”
“I have a 14g cube tank with 6 Pygmy Cory’s and 8 Ember Tetras and 6 Neo shrimp. I was wondering if I can potentially add a female betta into my tank? My local fish shop has a couple female sorority tanks and I think one of those would fit great since they are already in a tank with other fish. What are the chances the betta will prey upon the smaller fish ? If NOT feel free to suggest any other center piece or species I can add. Thank you:) submitted by /u/plani7 [link] [commen”
“I have a very docile female betta, (lived with shrimp, loaches, Cory’s, small & large snails, with no issues) she’s in a 10 gal and I’m moving her into a 20. The main reason being I want to put more fish in with her, I used to have neon tetras with my last betta, but they had to be separated due to fin nipping so I’m not taking the chance with them. I’ve done some research on TikTok, but most people are just saying the same thing lol I love chili rasboras (not sure on spelling) but I can’t f”
“I have a very well established planted 125l temperate community tank which has been in my living room for years but recently rescaped and newly stocked. It's home to a very chill young male apistogramma borellii. My question is can I perhaps add a female for him or is this asking for trouble? I'm fairly sure he'd be fine on his own and I'm wondering if I'm pushing the tank stocking wise. His tankmates are a bristlenose, 6 WW tetra, 8 juvenile neon gold barbs and 6 rosy barbs.”

“1 alien betta, 6 ember tetras, 3 neon tetras, 2 peppered cory, and 1 dwarf frog. The neon are the only survivors of a school of 7 after some sort of outbreak and im afraid to add more. The peppered corys I added as babies before I knew they needed a group of 6. Should I rehome the corys? I feel like completing their school would be too much bio-load. Any suggestions for additions/subtractions/scaping welcome. submitted by /u/Suspicious-Elk1263 [link] [comments]”

“I started with a 40 gallon breeder that has panda corys, kuhli loaches, amano shrimp, celestial pearl danios, and a rhino pleco. The pleco (Princess Donut) has outgrown that tank, so I bought a 75 gallon and will be spending the next month or so getting it set up, scaped, cycled, and planted for her/him. I will probably be adding neon green rasboras to the 40 gallon when Princess Donut has been successfully moved. I feel paralyzed by choice when it comes to stocking options, though! Obviously, I”
“Hi guys. I have a 3 gallon tank (its a 10 gallon paludarium but it only holds 3 gallons but its as long as a ten gallon) and i was wondering if i could keep a lone pea puffer in the tank. its heavily planted and has lots of snails and some shrimp. thanks in advance. “I have a well planted 40 gallon community tank thats been established for roughly 3 years now and is currently stocked with 6 Kuhli loaches, a banjo catfish, and 3 honey gouramis. I’m looking for some recommendations on what else I can bring into the tank to make things look more alive. I want to gradually add another school of fish or have some type of “centerpiece fish” if possible in this size aquarium and with my current stocking. I really appreciate the advice! submitted by /u/F”
“I really want to have some neocardinias and a betta. I know that many bettas will just devour them, but sometimes can be okay and won’t pay any interest to them. I’ve seen people suggest to get a few shrimp and let them get used to the tank before you add the betta, so they know the hiding places. I just obviously don’t want to do that and then he eats all the shrimp. I know nothing is guaranteed but is there a way to see the bettas temperance in the shop before I buy one? I have bought neither”
“I have a single flagfish by himself in a moderately planted 20 gallon long. He’s pretty aggressive, I had to re-home a couple nerite snails due to him picking at them. I bought a pair of them but they turned out to both be male and he ended up killing his bigger tank mate before I even noticed aggression. Nasty little guy but I want to keep him. Any ideas on tank mates? submitted by /u/clflflel [link] [comments]”
“so I’m thinking of starting a community tanks in a couple months and was wondering if these fish would mesh well together or no. So I’m currently thinking of: Rummy Nose Tetras Harlequin Rasboras Ember Tetras Neon Tetras Congo Tetras Possibly a pair of Pearl Gouramis and lastly Panda Corydoras or Kuhli Loaches in theory, would these species work together or would this be a disaster? How big a tank would I need to house these guys as I want relatively large amounts of rummy nose tetras to be able”
“I’m looking for ideas on compatible fish for a 40-75 gallon tropical community tank, that I’m thinking of starting within the next 2 ish months. I’m looking to utilise the different levels of the tank eg. bottom dwellers, and the medium and top layer of the tank. But I’m finding it particularly difficult to find fish that are peaceful, mesh well and have similar water temp/ph requirements. So from your experience what fish do you have in your community tank? I’m looking for a semi-wide variety w”
“What could I put in this tank? At first I was set on having it as a shrimp and snail only tank but then I thought about a pea puffer instead, would one be okay in here or are they more social fish that would require a group? submitted by /u/oaisuda_ [link] [comments]”

“I really like the little pom poms on forktail blue eyed rainbowfish. So Im thinking of doing 4 males and 6 females of those. 6 albino corydoras. And an orange honey gourami for a pop of color. 1) Would this be overstocked for a 20 gallon planted tank with lots of rocks and substrate with a Tidal 55 filter? 2) I read that forktailed rainbowfishs may be a bit sensitive to water parameters, are they OK as a mostly beginner fish? If i only get 6 of them- would I need to get 2 males and 4 females or”

“I'm receiving a 25 gal (24" x 12" x 20") in a bit (yippee), and I have this list of fish for a month later once it's all set up, planted, and cycled. I was wondering if they're suited for the tank or if I should change some out for other species, I'm open to recommendations of course! :D ^ I also live in a tropical country if that helps with recommendations. I've listed these species so far: • Honey Gourami - they are adorable • Sterbai Corydoras • (initially)”
“Hi there, I am planning to stock my 29-gallon tank with an Amazon leaf fish or a pair. I just don't want it as a species-only tank, so I am hearing out any suggestions, but I would like some active fish. submitted by /u/Connect_Fun7523 [link] [comments]”
“I have 5 black skirt tetras in my 29 gal freshwater and 8 corydoras. What would be a good centerpiece addition that plays well with others? I have bad luck with angelfish. Thinking gourmanis or chiclids but open to ideas! submitted by /u/No-Independent1845 [link] [comments]”

“I plan on making this a community tank and stocking it in the next few days with Cory cats(6-8), nano school(10-15 idk what species yet), Dalmatian and bumble bee mollys(6-8) and a gourami or two as a centerpiece. Obviously I’m not going to get everything at once. I’ll get one species at a time. What should I get first since it’ll be the first species in the tank? Also I’ve got more plants being delivered in a couple hours to fill it out a bit more. submitted by /u/BeefSamich [link]”

“So I have guppies and shrimp in a 20 gallon long and just started noticing my guppies eating my shrimp. The only tank I could move my shrimp too is my 10 gallon with a male betta. “I’ve recently come into possession of a 28 gallon tank (tried to rescue a cichlid someone abandoned outside, he didn’t make it RIP) and my partner and I wanna start keeping fish once the tank is ready for new tenants. I don’t know much about fish but I’ve been researching aquarium keeping and scouring this sub for a while. We’ve come to the conclusion that we want a bristlenose pleco, however many tetras the tank size allows (species undecided, open to suggestions for a beginner), and a single f”
“I have a 75 gallon planted tank populated by a number of peaceful schooling nanofish. Guppies, tetras, cories, oto's, the like. Along with them is a neighbor's bright red male betta that has been left at my house for almost half a year. The betta does technically have his own tank. But that tank was really just a 2.5 gallon jar full of plastic plants and some marbled. Naturally, I put him in my larger tank, because while it wasn't ideal, it was obviously better. And so far it has wor”
“I just re did my 10 gallon tank. Right now we have 3 amano shrimp and two mystery snails. We are thinking of getting Pygmy Cory’s, 6-8 of them. We do want something else with them. I was thinking guppies or maybe some chili rasboras. I’m wondering what other people’s experiences are and what your recommendations are for another fish with the Pygmy’s if that is an option. submitted by /u/poopydoopy1607 [link] [comments]”
“I have a 235L (62G) Blackwater tank that currently has 22 rummynose tetras and 11 aldofoi corydoras. I'm hoping to stick to the same theme as I add more fish to the tank. I am wondering if people would suggest adding 10-15 more rummynose tetras to create a bigger school or have more colour with 10-15 cardinal tetras? Later I am hoping to add a small group of slightly bigger fish as a 'centrepiece'. Current thoughts are dicrossus filamentous but I wanted to see what other suggestions”
“This is my 10 gallon (about 40L). It's stocked with 8 pygmy corys, 12 chilli rasboras and 3 white cloud mountain minnows which were taken in from somewhere else. I don't intend to add more as I live in the tropics and the temperature here is not really suitable for wcmm. As you can see, the fishes don't make much visual impact. The chillis are too small, Corys are usually chilling in the plants and rocks. The chillis will soon move to my son's tank which is more suitable for them”
“Hi! I have a short fin baby girl betta who has two clithon snail friends she doesn't mind at all. I am upgrading her tank to a 20 gallon one and was thinking of getting some pygmys. Are the fishes safe with each other or should I rather just have her by herself? She is super chill with me and the snails and was kept with other Betta girls in the pet store with no problem, but that was two months ago already. Also, if she doesn't mind the clithons do you think I could add a bigger snail l”

“Hey all! I have a 20 gallon tank (not long) that's been established for some years, and I haven't messed with the community for quite awhile. I'm looking for ideas on what would be appropriate fish to add to the tank that might be different than how I normally do things. So first some parameters. It's 24"x12"x16". Incredibly soft water, minimal hardness PH around 6 to 6.5. Ammonia, Nitrites, and Nitrates all cycled and safe. Currently set to about 78 degrees. Curre”
“I have a 10 gal that formerly had panda corys and a mystery snail in it, their time has passed and now I am contemplating having another little community tank or if I should try a betta this time around. Is there any way to have anything else with a betta in a tank this size? Not necessarily another fish but like a snail or shrimp maybe? I like a dynamic set up. I loved the corys but am curious what other little fish can do well in a community tank of this size? submitted by /u/Icy-M”
“Hi, we have a fully established, heavily planted community tank. We have several types of tetras, Pygmy corydoras, clown killifish, 60 neocardinia, one honey gourami in a 35 gallon tank. The water parameters are: pH: 6.8 with buffering substrate that’s been stable for months kH: 0 gH: 8 Nitrate: 5ppm Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Tank temp 75°F Last night I noticed one of the tail spot Pygmy corydoras fighting to swim to the bottom of the tank, it seemed like it couldn’t help floating up to the surface”
“I was considering creating a new tank with white cloud minnows, rainbow shiners, and neon tetras. Assuming 6-10 per each group, how big of a tank would this have to be? Google says theyre compatible, but does anyone here have any experience keeping them together?
