Several users are frustrated with persistent, difficult-to-remove spots on their new glass stovetops. They’ve tried cleaners and find the marks appear underneath the surface or reappear after cleaning. One user spent seven hours trying to remove a sugar boil over.

Now there is a stain from whatever burnt and a cloudy smudge that won’t go away 😢 is there anything I can do to fix this??? “Hey guys, so this is an electric stove top. The top is glass. Genuinely do not know how this happened as I live alone and only noticed it now as I’ve been cleaning. There’s no physical scratch marks or anything like that, it’s just visibly there. I think it could be from when I had a pot boil over the other day ? But I’m not sure. I barely cook on the stove and it’s the first I’m seeing it. Anyway to get this off ??? I know it looks like scratch marks but I’m certain it’s not as I don’t place an”

“I have a glass or ceramic cook top that is textured with little bumps. It's definitely not a smooth finish such as a window. I have rings that I have scrubbed with BKF and dawn power wash. It has helped but the last resort I keep seeing is use a razor. With the textured surface I'm concerned about messing it up more than it already is. Any suggestions? “OK, so, I noticed that there is a weird sticky substance on my range. Top right on the two large burners. Come to find out, my husband would come out in the middle of the night make a PB&J, he would sit the bag of bread down while the stove was hot, not on, but it was still hot enough, so we’ve come to the conclusion that it’s from a very thin layer of that bread bag. Now I have tried everything I know to remove it, scrubbed it with abrasive sponges, use a few different methods I saw on YouT”

“My roommate has been cooking who knows what, and has already turned two of our four electric stovetop burners into fire hazards (or at least I assume so). I think it might be oil because she uses a lot of it, but I'm not 100% sure. How can I get this off?? Any time I turn the stove on, it starts smoking horribly and smells like burning. “I’ve tried vinegar, baking soda, vinegar + baking soda, a cooktop cleaner, a scrub daddy, a razor blade. I’ve tried it with the heat on, I’ve tried it cold. This will not come off this cooktop. We haven’t had the darn thing for more than a couple months. The culprit was a hot microwave bag of rice that was dropped right on the burner. “I have this sat on my stovetop 24/7 - needless to say, layers of oil splatters have polymerized on its surface. Previous attempts to scrub it off with soap and water yielded little results :( Decided to make a baking soda paste, wrapped tightly with cling film to keep the paste damp. 4 hours later and some gentle scrubbing yielded this: I’m elated! “We have a relatively new electric stove with a glass cooktop. Somehow, some food (maybe some kind of sauce? Not sure) got extremely burnt onto the front right burner. It's making the burner unusable (because it just burns even more), but I'm unable to get it off, even a little bit. It's about 1 mm thick and maybe 1x1.5 inches, size-wise. “This is my stovetop, which I’m assuming is cast iron just based on the appearance. It’s brand new that the landlord installed upon move in, and I am not sure the specific model. These orange rust-looking stains appear anytime water comes in contact with the plate. Giant stains were made when I rested a pot lid with condensation on it while I stirred noodles (the lid was resting there for roughly 30 seconds and I wiped the water away). There were much bigger stains and I tried barkeepers friend,”

“Hi everyone, I just noticed these white/scratch-like marks on my glass cooktop after cooking with a stainless steel pan. I tried wiping and cleaning the surface, but the marks won’t come off. When I rub it with my fingernail, I can clearly feel that it isn't smooth. Does this look like actual scratches or permanent damage to the glass, or could it be metal transfer/residue from the stainless steel pan? Has anyone had something similar happen, and were you able to remove it? Thanks subm”

“Hi all! I am a college student using my dorm's ceramic stovetop. I was wondering what the cheapest and most efficient way of cleaning this residue is. From the picture, what I have tried is using warm soap and water, and the before and after is the same picture (nothing changed). I was using a paper towel to wipe, though.
