“If you have a big yard, dry dirt, then a walk behind edger is nice. If you have wet dirt/st augustine then the edger is annoying and fills with wet dirt.”

“Acorns can roll and bounce away from push sweeper brushes. If acorns are the main thing you're clearing, a lawn vacuum may be worth comparing. Sweepers tend to work better for leaves”

“Any tips or tricks before I buy a torch to eradicate weeds in a ditch filled with rip rap? I’ll use it for weeding other areas too. I’ve tried chemicals and the weeds keep coming back. I’m responsible and aware of fire danger, personal protective gear. Looking for effectiveness/utility, techniques, etc. submitted by /u/Flying_Mustang [link] [comments]”

“Pensacola, Florida Has anyone here had experience with tow behind lawn sweepers? Trying to decide if I want to go that route for lawn clippings or the much more expense bagging system for my mower. submitted by /u/oldhippie73 [link] [comments]”

“I am in Northern Mississippi and have about 1/4 acre of brush/weeds to clear and maintain in the middle of a neighborhood. I would prefer electric but am not against using a gas trimmer if that is what would be better for this type of brush clearing. My current equipment is a very basic 20V Dewalt cordless trimmer that is far from up for this task and I am looking for recommendations for a major upgrade that can deal with the brush pictured below. Budget wise I am tracking a good string trimmer”

“I just spent quite some time outside edging my mulch beds. I think I did somewhat of a decent job but I’m not sure if I edged right. I know some of the grass has already started to grow in some of the beds but I’d rather edge them now than later. I’m thinking about just keeping it like this until spring since fall is right around the corner but what are your guy’s thoughts on this? What should I improve or change? submitted by /u/RichHomieTee [link] [comments]”

“Wandered into my local Walmart and they had all the lawn tools on clearance. Took a chance on the Fiskars version of the "grampa's weeder." 1000% worth the $24. Even went back to buy one for my aunt. If you've been on the fence, hop off it and get one. Carry on! South Texas Oh, gonna diy a 6+ zone irrigation system this winter. That'll be a fun post! submitted by /u/RepeatFine981 [link] [comments]”

“I have a string trimmer with a rotating head for edging and an edger. The edger does a much better job than the trimmer. Easier to get a straight, clean cut. As mentioned above though, if it's wet or mucky it will clog up a bit. I run my edger maybe once every three or four times just to clean things up.”

“I've seen many posts on string trimmer vs metal edger for use along sidewalks and driveways. What are the pros of a string trimer vs an edger? I get the impression this sub prefers the string trimmer. For me, the edger is faster albeit it messier and requires more leaf blowing of the sidewalk after. “I purchased a combination edger/trimmer from Worx. The edger uses wheels, then you rotate them up for trimming. Great product, not super expensive. Mine is nearly 10 years old. Best edge in my neighborhood. This is an addendum after reading more comments. If your edges are a mess, you need to start with a gas powered edger or a good electric one. Rent them. Then you can easily maintain the edge with this Worx unit I referenced. I edge after every mowing, takes me literally 5 minutes. The Worx un”

“Depends. If OP has small hand tools with batteries int he 20V range, it probably makes sense to jump to 56-60V lawn tools.”

“I'd like to start edging, never really properly edged my lawn before but I do have a lot of area where lawn meets concrete. Anyway, I use the Milwaukee Quik-Lok for my trimmer and such, so it's just a matter of buying the right attachment. which leads to the question. The classic answer is of course to get the edger attachment. But there's this new reciprocator/rotary scissor. My YouTube feed has videos of people saying it works even better as an edger than the actual edging tool. An”

I think the carburetor is shot and honestly I'm just done dealing with mixing fuel. I want to upgrade to a dependable battery powered option that can finish my entire fence line and around the patio on a single charge. For those of you with about a half acre or more, which specific models are you using that actual”

“Just throw the trimmer on top of that slab and cut it. You can trim the edges with a good line trimmer.”

“Forgot to mention the quickest way to deal with what you're facing if you plan to start over from scratch, is to drop about $130 on a propane torch from amazon and the 20lb or whatever tank outfit and torch it. That's what I did with a large area of thick rooted weeds I had in the front yard before I realized that's what they were. In parts I cut an area about 12' x 30' very low and took the torch to it. It did a great job of giving me a fresh surface to plant on after about”
