“Hi, I'm using Obsidian on Linux Mint and I was wondering how much time it might take for the new update (the one with new colors of the highlights etc) to become available for me. I didn't pay much attention to that time frame before, so I have no idea how long it might take.”
“I say this, because there are some things that just make me gravitate away from a app. This is one of them. I can't have windows all over the place and constantly having to close it after I switch vaults. But would love to start driving obsidian as a regular.”
“Disabling the settings in new window is a way to solve the problem but then it creates a new one, where I can't resize my setting window. Well ig you can't have everything :') Thanks for trying to help tho”
Users of ObsidianMD are frustrated because theme updates erase their custom configurations, requiring them to reset the appearance. Backups don’t fix this issue as the update fundamentally changes how themes work.

“aww for a second there I thought this was a skinning / theme creation guide lol”
“I only update when there are bug fixes or added functionality that I would find useful, or if there are security fixes. Most of the time the changes are minor and not worth the hassle. We have tons of code changes and most get wiped out in the update, though this has gotten a little better and more seem to carry through each time we update. It's been a year and a half since we last updated.”

I guess my question is, the color because I achieve that color? Is it customized via CSS? As well as the tabs at the top? Edit to say, thank you!
“I'm very new to Obsidian and currently only use one pluggin (Storyline) and one theme. If I create a new vault, the theme I've installed is gone and needs to be reinstalled. Same goes for Storyline. I need to reinstall it for every new vault. If I open an existing vault, my obsidian will switch theme and storyline shows up, but only for that vault. So If I open an existing vault while having a new vault, only the existing one will support Storyline and the theme. Is this normal? Is there”

“Yeah so basically I went into the Style Setting plug in editor- selected my current theme which is AnuPpuccin - and then from there started to change the color override section. So choosing colors for text, subtext, overlay, surface, base, mantel, crust. I used css to change my note names and text between the different modes.”
THANK U, this should be widely known. It fixed all my issues on mobile
“Maintaining the theme is easier. The thing is the dependency on someone else maintaining and updating it at every release. My own CSS, based on the documentation, simply works. But, if something changes, I'm the one that will have to update it.”
“Seeing as that’s how the Settings window has always been before this new 1.13 update, I’m used to it, but completely see how that can be a dealbreaker for some. Sorry about that, but again, hopefully this will be resolved in time!”

“But they like the new changes to the theme. They just wish they werent forced to reset all of it to make the new version look like the old one. At least based on what they said.”
“Yes it would because you can load the old theme files into your vault instead of the updated files.”
