“I’ve recently started seeing these little guys in my house - about a month of seeing 1-5 per day. Everything I can find online says it’s not uncommon to find them near doors etc after rainy days. However, I am exclusively seeing them in the…”
“Ok so im freaking out right now, because of these giant centipedes that are causing pure terror to me. I want to burn my house and move to space or something. Any tips to get rid of these horrible creatures from hell submitted by /u/Confident_Aioli8436 [link] [comments]”
“If you haven’t called a pest control company for their general pest service and obliterated 90% of the living insects around your home you’re doing better than most [re: My love for spiders and bugs keeps me from caring for the yard]”
“I'm new to apartment living, and for the first few months had a somewhat serious spider situation. Even just moving in at first, I could find numerous dead spiders huddled around a corner, likely perishing to diatomaceous earth, likely laid by the complex's exterminator. It was on average one spider a day, often twitchy and hobbling because of the aforementioned anti-pest measure. This is way more than I am used to. And then somewhat abruptly they just stopped showing up. It was about th”
“Today was the first time I have ever seen a house centipede in my rental, and to make matters worse it was a huge ass centipede. I was just minding my business on the toilet in the dead of night until I see a fricking centipede crawl under the door. It was as if it sensed my fear so it immediately ran away. I was not even graced with a small one. It was HUGE. I genuinely didnt even get to wipe, just sprinted off the toilet and ran out. I don't know what to do. Im so so scared of bugs especia”

I already know house centipedes themselves are harmless and stuff but its the 2nd one ive seen in a few months which I very rarely see them despite my room being in the basement (this is only my 3rd encounter in my few years of living here) and all of them have been around my bed area. “Hi, I’ve lived in a second floor condo unit for the last decade, and the only insects I’ve ever really encountered in my unit are silverfish, especially in the warmer months, I’ll see big ones a few times a week. I’ve seen house centipedes in our damp basement where we park, but never in my unit—until this past week. They really freak me out (I know they’re beneficial) and I’ve seen 3 in the last 4 days now, and one fell off the ceiling and hit my face while I was in bed!! My unit has issues wit”
“I was chilling on my bed then I realized "Oh shoot, I haven't swept and vacuum in a while!" So I vacuumed and swept but I saw like 3 sliverfish, 2 carpet beetle, and 3 centipedes! It's disgusting and I don't like it. Does that mean I have an infestation? I did clean my room a lot after that but I just don't want bugs crawling up my leg at night. submitted by /u/Wonderful_Celery7305 [link] [comments]”
“So I’m living in the basement of an apartment complex and it’s only been 2 and a half months and i’ve seen 5 centipedes in this place. Almost all of them are in my shower. They’re huge and genuinely terrifying I just want them to go away but apparently nothing works. I’ve used Draino, that Green Gobbler thing, baking soda and vinegar, boiling water and bleach EVERYTHING and I come home after a long day to find another one stuck in the tub with no way out. I’m so tired of this please someone help”
“I'm looking at a complex mostly surrounded by woods. I'm worried that a location like this will guarantee large spiders and centipedes in my unit. Is this something I need to be prepared for? I spray LambdaStar Ultracap for these things in my current apartment, and I rarely see them (like once every 5 years). Would this stuff be as effective in a wooded location? Is there anything additional I could do? Having to see these things regularly in my home would likely be a deal-breaker for me”
“I recently moved into a new apartment. It has a horrible spider problem, and it’s multiple different types of spiders. I’ve also spotted house centipedes and small ants. I started cleaning out the cabinets today because i finally got some dishes to put in them. I found these small piles of droppings, and found some after wiping down the walls of one of the cabinets. Is this from the spiders or is there another insect that I need to worry about 😭 submitted by /u/r_a_tt [link] [”
“I’ve had my house treated for bugs already and haven’t had many issues. Been here for about almost 4 months. I have a basement door so I notice a lot of crickets get in around there but typically die before getting farther inside. But I’ve noticed centipedes have made it almost to the other side of my basement and I’ve seen a new one almost every time I’ve gone down there. They’re always also dead but how are they getting in and what does them getting in mean? submitted by /u/SamoFad”
“My husband and I just moved into a new apartment last week and we keep finding bugs everywhere. I caught 5 spiders this morning alone, and my cat just ate a centipede. Please send any and all tips to get them out! submitted by /u/dairyfreequeenn [link] [comments]”
“Okay, I didn’t think I would be writing this in a million years, but this is not satire: I have a tarantula pest problem with my new house in Ecuador. I am a pretty severe arachnophobe, so this is a red alarm bell panic. We found one burrowing in our garden adjacent to our house. We hired an exterminator who fumigated the house and the hole burrows. But then, the next day, there was several new holes. So we hired him again to do the same thing. Then, we found one in the house. I’m panicking. Is”
“Some problems are not obvious during the meet and greet. For example: (1) infestations - spider infestations, bugs in rugs, bugs in vacuums, flea infestations; (2) hidden filth - dishwashers, refrigerators, washing machines that are not clean inside but look okay from the outside; (3) years of dust under furniture, including beds. How do you make sure you can leave if these things only become obvious after starting a long housesitting assignment? Thanks for your input. submitted by /”
“Context: We live in a two storey house as tenants, and it's a small house, the stairs leading up to our portion are open, aka both portions are connected, and when they're cooking in their kitchen the smell and heat comes up. They had bedbugs and called pest control. The guy sput aluminium phosphide tablets in their rooms, even kitchen and sealed all rooms with duct tape. The residents themselves will open the rooms after 24 hours and start living in them normally after 2 hours of ventil”
“People of reddit, please help me... I have found multiple common desert centipedes in my rental in Santa Fe NM (all in the same day), and I am losing my mind! I can't get pest control out here without my landlord's permission, and I don't know how they are getting in!!!!! I have a cat, and they are venomous enough I feel nervous about her getting bit while I'm at work. What can I do about them? Are they actually dangerous to my cat? I shall link a photo of what they look like bel”
“I recently moved into an apartment and immediately found carpet beetles. Pest control came for a first spray out of two on the 3rd of August and for like 1,5 weeks I didn’t really see any adults or larvae. After the pest control visit I have vacuumed daily, as they did not forbid it and I thought it would be good to vacuum all larvae/eggs/adults to prevent the spreading of the infestation. Now I saw two adults and one larva and I am concerned that I have accidentally vacuumed the spray away and”
“Hello, I am a home owner with an insect problem in my basement. Frequent visitors of spiders and centipedes. I bought ortho home defense max insect control from Canadian Tire, followed the instructions and sprayed along baseboards and let dry overnight with windows open. Now there is wet spots and residue along baseboards everywhere. Kind of an oily sticky residue What should I do? I know the product needs to dry before the space is safe to use but I’ve already waited nearly 24 hours I just want”
“Today, I’ve found a house centipede in my room. I’ve had one before and I never seen one again. I usually have spiders in my room but that’s the worst I see. I’ve seen many people say that it’s probably an infestation and now I’m worried. The apartment is usually clean for the most part but my room isn’t always clean as unfortunate as it is to admit. Although, I did just tidy it up early today and sprayed it. Later in the night after I woke up it was like right above my bed. Totally freaked me o”
“Good morning, Just closed on a house las night (that was a stressful process for sure). I've been looking into doing some kind of purge (there was some evidence of spiders and we did see one bug during inspection, I don't think it was a roach though). Previous owner did an Ortho Home Defense Insect Killer treatment around the perimeter before the sale but I'd like to be a bit more thorough. My current plan is to a bug bomb before I move anything in (I know they're not great at ki”
“I just bought a house. From first hours I notice a lot insect on my angle and foot. Find out the pervious owner had a lot of cats let say around 20 cats and some lizards. So please advise. Three weeks I been cleaning and spraying no luck. Reduced but not disappeared. I have throw away all the carpets from the rooms and stair case. Downstairs is laminate floor and first floor. Also the picture is zoomed in a lot with iPhone camera. Little bit deceiving and it is 1m. I suspected fleas. But these o”
“My house is infested with Brown marmorated stink bugs and centipedes not only are they gross, they are making their way into my bedroom! I live in a 100yr old house, so the windows are horrible! (They are being replaced in the next month. The house floors were all redone and the doors are being worked on. I moved in here about a month ago now and there is endless bugs! It was left empty for over 4 years, and I’m struggling with all these bugs around. We called an exterminator but it will take a”
“r/pestcontrol …… “We live on a first floor carpet apartment and there are “swallow” birds/nest right outside of our door. For the past couple months, they are leaving a pile of bird poo outside of our doorway. We have also noticed some possible mites on them. I have found 4 of these microscopic pest in my bed and one in my kitchen. We have two dogs, and we ran a flea come through them and did a flea bath treatment, but could not find any of these little things in their fur. They do not fly/ they”
“Hi all! Would like to preface this by saying that although I do not like spiders. I understand they have an important role in the ecosystem by controlling other pests. However, I feel it is getting to the point where the spiders are starting to take over. I see them mostly out in the yard around the fence line but they seem to be making their way closer to my house. This spider specifically is the largest I’ve ever seen outside and just happens to be living right at the foundation of my house an”
“I'm a homeowner in Seattle and have dealt with a few pest issues over the years. Ants and spiders seem common, but sometimes the real challenge is figuring out how they're getting inside and what kind of damage they might be causing. What pest problem have you dealt with that turned out to be more complicated than you expected? Did you handle it yourself or call a professional? Just trying to learn from others' experiences thanks! submitted by /u/OkFortune3621 [link] ”
“Found barely moving its legs in my kids bedroom. We just moved into this new build in Texas and I have been medicated for my phobia for bugs and my OCD was out of control at our last house in Arizona because of carpet beetles. “Hi! I’m very arachnophobic. There was a baby spider in my room today and it scared me so bad. I'm so afraid of there being more and I think there could be since we have spiders all over the living room. I know spiders can lay lots of eggs at once. I'm very scared and don't know what to do I'm just 14 😭 I don't think I'll EVER sleep or do something in my room again. submitted by /u/Rojoli [link] [comments]”
“Last year we had a huge infestation of these millipedes (South Florida) and I’m trying to knock it back before it gets to that point again. Luckily they are only outside (a few find their way inside). I have spread Bifen granule twice within the last month. I heard the granule is better due to these being a hard-shelled bug. Unsure if there’s more I should be doing. submitted by /u/MarlinsMan0711 [link] [comments]”
“I own a condo in the Arizona. It's an older building and it's one that is surrounded with trees, grass, bushes, etc. They have the whole sprinkler thing going on. The surrounding area is all desert which is why they probably accumulate on this property. Tiny little spiders keep making their way into my place. I had an exterminator for a while and I decided to cancel because it was pricey and it's not a huge issue. It's more annoying than anything. I tried sealing any cracks, etc.”
“Also nobody needs monthly spider treatments. Unless you have an infestation, leave the buggers be. They're good for your home and catch other bugs... It's not like they're eating the wood like ceratin insects love to do. Sheesh.”
“Hi there! So my problem is just what the title says. Spiders. And I'm not talking simple longleg/basement spiders or wolf spiders that are fine to keep bugs out of the apartment. I'm talking about one of my worst enemies when it comes to spiders. Brown recluses. Just in the past week, I have found SEVERAL in my bathroom. I have yet to notice them anywhere else, which is a relief and a worry that i just havent spotted them yet. Last night was my final straw when I turned on the bathroom l”
“confused! This heap of dust looking insects keeps on re spawning every day. I keep on hoovering it up. I fused to leave the hoover there so I assumed it was falling out of the hoover. I moved the hoover, and still they are coming back daily. Please help. Scared it’s an infestation 😂 submitted by /u/Few-Definition-6824 [link] [comments]”
“I’ve had orkin come and spray my whole house and the next day, this guy was found barely moving in the living room, not to far from the kitchen or front door…. Not sure which kind this is…any thoughts? submitted by /u/Ok-Replacement6266 [link] [comments]”
“Hey all, I have a small springtail infestation in my bedroom and kitchen. It's not horrendous but it is quite annoying. I don't think they're coming in from the exterior. My landlady moved a piece of furniture from a different apartment, which I know has had problems with them, into the bedroom shortly before I moved in, so I'm pretty sure they were brought in on that. I live in a tropical climate and moved into this apartment very recently. I read that lowering the humidity gets”
“Hey pals, I am hoping to get some guidance. I am normally pretty happy to have a spider or two around my windows or in corners of the home to help with other obnoxious little pests. Lately, however, I’m afraid the 8-legged roommates have been violating the terms of the sublease. I believe these are the male and female counter parts of the Southern house spider. I live in downtown Raleigh, NC. This past spring/summer. I am finding these almost every other week. The final straw was one of these li”

“I moved into my new apartment 9 days ago. It’s on the bottom floor. It was exceptionally clean when i arrived. The backyard was covered in weeds and garbage from a previous tenant years ago. My husband has been doing a great deal of yard work. I have seen at least one centipede everyday or evening. I’ve killed every one I have seen so far. I understand they’re supposed to be helpful but please don’t tell me that crap. I’m completely horrified and uncomfortable in my home. I’m terrified. If it wa”
“My parents house is very cluttered and my room well I nest very hard so I like keeping a bunch of stuff as long as the floors as clear for the robot, but clutter makes a nice home for bugs. Have these robots helped deter any spiders and other pests from staying in your home? Maybe not the flying ones for obvious reasons but the floor dwellers. I have to replace my robot soon because it's falling apart so I'm hoping the new one will have more powerful suction to nab up ants, wandering spi”

“My kids woke up with the worst bites all over their groin, back armpits.. my first thought was bedbugs but we have NO evidence of bedbugs we can find. And kids were all bit in places where they were clothed. Found these guys on my daughter’s underwear, possibly mites? What do you think, and what should I do? “About 6 months ago I placed this large rat snap trap in my garage. I checked it regularly for the first few months and it was never triggered. Eventually I forgot about it. Today I heard noises in my basement ceiling and actually saw what looked like a rat looking back at me through an opening. I then went to move this trap and found it triggered, with what appears to be decomposed remains and lots of maggots (see photos). My questions are: Based on the photos, does it look like the trap most li”
“US - NY sorry for the bad quality, saw this like huge bug while i was playing some games in my room, when i first saw it from afar, i thought it mightve been a beetle but after getting closer i think it might be a roach…. (antennas, 3 legs, back legs being longer than the rest…), it seemed to be fully black / i dont remember seeing any coloring on it im lowkey posting this in hopes that its literally anything but a roach. i love all bugs but have an irrational fear of roaches (and even with that”
