“Worth doing the math on what POS Plus actually gives you beyond Stocky, because for a lot of single-location shops the answer is "not much". The things Plus still does that matter: staff roles and permissions, per-staff sales attribution, exchanges across locations, and store-level reporting. If you have one location and a couple of trusted staff, you're probably paying for features you don't use, and POS Lite plus a proper inventory app covers you. If you have 2+ locations or”

We switched to Ballast app when Stocky sunsetted. Pretty good so far.

“I ended up using the native Shopify option in the Discounts section. Amount off products > Minimum quantity of items. It's much easier for customers to just add things to the card and have the quantity discounts apply in tiers, rather than having to create bundles in quantities of x to be able to get the discount. I also got feedback from customers that the interface was clunky on mobile, which is where many of my sales come through. I still use DealEasy for the free shipping value thresh”

you mean you can not create a bundle for more than 5 products?

“the native approach above is honestly the right end state, cheapest and most flexible. worth flagging for anyone less technical reading this though: actually showing the bundle set in cart (not just having the discount silently apply) needs dev work, like the comments above mentioned with line item attributes. if you don't have that and don't want to hire it out, an app like Kaching Bundles handles that display side out of the box. costs something, but for a lot of smaller stores that tr”

“^^^ This is my recommendation. Put the items into a “bundle eligible” collection and then use the native discount feature to apply the discount when there’s 5 items from the collection in the cart.”

r/shopifySep 7

“Honestly I'd do this natively. Create a collection for all 30 products, then create an automatic discount linked to the collection and add a discount when 5 of those items are in the cart. So long as the collection description is clear enough, customers can do as they wish from that collection page them. No apps needed.”

“I’d avoid choosing off the app list alone. I use podbase on Shopify for phone cases because the margin is better for me than shirts, and the orders go out quick. Which apps have you tested so far?”

“yeah I just haven’t found an app that can do that so far. The locations use the same variants/SKUs. I like the idea of of meta field but it’s nice to open the bulk edit menu and quickly compare inventory between the two locations across a bunch of variants. That way I’m able to easily make a list of what I need to grab in our warehouse and edit that inventory #. Otherwise i have to click into each variant separately which is just kind of a time sink.”

“Tried an inventory app for a month that cost us an arm and leg. Recently found Stockroom, it’s free and covers all we used Stocky for”

“I don't know why they shut Stocky down. We moved over to SupplyAutomate . There is a free trial.”

“I did end up paying for a backup app for this as I wanted one something that is more widely used and seems more reliable. Same with Xero. Don’t really want to be faffing about myself with spreadsheets etc, as I’ll defo be flappy if something happens”

“Did you ever settle on a replacement? I'm curious what ended up being the dealbreaker with Shopify's native inventory tools. Was it mostly POs and receiving, or did transfers between the stores make it unworkable too?”

r/smallbusinessAug 20

“Curious, what part of Stocky are you actually going to miss the most? Is it purchase orders, receiving, reordering, stocktakes, or something else? I'm wondering if replacing the whole thing is even necessary if most smaller stores only rely on a couple of features.”

“Fast Bundle is actually back on the Shopify App Store now. I had a discussion with their team around July 30 and have been using it again since then without any issues. I tried a few alternatives while it was unavailable, but tbh none of them worked as well for my setup as I wanted, especially when it came to bundle flexibility and handling individual SKUs. For now, Fast Bundle is working fine for me again.”

“The 3 option cap is the wall you're hitting, and you don't beat it by cramming both items into one product. You beat it by keeping them as two separate products and bundling them together. Shopify's own free Bundles app does this. It builds a bundle out of existing products and their variants, so each item keeps its own size and color, and inventory still pulls from the originals. That sidesteps the option limit entirely because you're never making a single product with four opti”

“Our stores used Stocky mostly just to scan all of our products barcodes once a month to update our inventory. Now that Stocky is going away, what is the best way to do this? We aren’t really interested in the inventory forecasting, purchase orders etc, just an easy way for our employees to scan barcodes, upload and have our inventory be updated. Shopify sold us a $300 scanner saying it would work easily with their inventory system but it does not seem to work. submitted by /u/Lonely_”

“My rule: don't add a bundle app unless your catalog actually supports bundles. For consumables, accessories, beauty, food, etc. Foxsell can be useful. For single hero-product stores, maybe not needed”

“Shopify is retiring Stocky, its own free purchase-order and inventory-forecasting app, on August 31. The help page now states plainly that it "will no longer be available after August 31st, 2026." A dated deadline attached to a defined group of people who have to move is about as legible as a market window gets. So I built into it. Replenora went live on the App Store yesterday: purchase orders with per-supplier lead times, receiving into Shopify inventory with partial receipts and a f”

“You should check out Amplify - it's on a pricier side, but has amazing support and its been stable. It also splits products into actual skus, so works great for inventory tracking”

“Curious if looking at any of the Shopify app's for direct mail campaigns are worthwhile or just go with a traditional print shop. Few specifics: business is heavily gift-focused (we'd like to send to gift recipients - AKA shipping addresses - as well as purchasers) bulk send (not one-offs where it looks like some of these apps really come in handy) We've used a local printer before but was pretty cumbersome. Might be interested in a company with better online tools so we're not h”

“Fast Bundle was removed from the app marketplace because it was compromised and malicious code was able to be injected. It was the best bundle app I have found, but there’s no way I want to use it after that shenanigans. Do you guys have any recommendations? The most important feature was that it broke out the individual SKUs from the bundle in the cart. I also enjoyed how many different bundle types there were along with lots of customization options. Thanks for any help you can provide!”

“With Stocky fully shutting down Aug 31 (and already gone from the App Store), curious what everyone here actually landed on. What are the things you're considering? submitted by /u/no_idle_cycles [link] [comments]”
