“We got new sod established in May of this year and I’m working hard to keep it going. It’s October now and I’m seeing a slight yellowing of the grass in a lot of spots. Is this normal? Is there something I should be worried about? We’re in the northern part of West Virginia. submitted by /u/TrypodKat [link] [comments]”

“Zone 6a. Had a large stump ground and I cleared out the mulch and leveled with topsoil. Aerated and overseeded with blue resilience. Where that stump was is getting really yellow where my tire lines are. Seeded sep 2 and on my 3rd mow. Will this bounce back and will the new grass get a deeper green soon? I have other large bare spots that didn’t fill in as nice but the new grass bounces back better after a mow submitted by /u/TITANSB5TRD [link] [comments]”

“Grass was finally starting to come in nicely and now it seems to be yellowing and dying in areas. Did I use too much fertilizer? Too much over seeding? Should I just leave it be or does it need something? North New England area, fescue and Kentucky mix submitted by /u/16tones_ [link] [comments]”

“My grass started to grow good after the heatwave this summer, I applied some fall fertiliser (6-5-24) early September to give it a boost which made my grass grow even better and made it look very good and had to mow it 2 times a week because it grew that fast and always tried to mow when the grass was dry enough. I keep the length of the grass about 6-7cm high. But since a few days I’m noticing a yellow color in my grass. Besides that I also have some ‘cobwebs’, mostly at dawn and also some ‘mus”

“Hi. Certain area in my small lawn started to yellow and not grow compared to the rest of the lawn. Northern California. Fescue mix. Can someone tell me what it could be based on picture. Weather has been good. Watering 3x week. Rest of the lawn looks good. Last fertilizer about 6 weeks ago. Changes started occurring about 1 week ago. Edit: pictures didn’t come out clear enough but it’s a lot of yellow/brown than it appears. Even my overseeded new fescue yellowed out. The length of the grass shor”

“Massachusetts. Yellow spots showed up in last week (see pics). Recently, My lawn guy aerated, i mowed low and overseeded. This looks like grass killer overspray, but no one has sprayed, that i know of. Any ideas? Pet urine from the local dogs? submitted by /u/oldman_55 [link] [comments]”

“Eastern Canada - We had some Kentucky Bluegrass sod installed at the end of May and this is the result at the end of the summer a little bit of lime and fertilizer was added to it, but I don’t know what I need in order to fix these yellow patches. submitted by /u/a_supportive_bra [link] [comments]”

“What’s this yellow dry grass, eastern Colorado. We have well water, I water plenty ( I believe anyway) but quite a few spots have this grass underneath. Some spots like 10x10 or so, and other spots don’t have this at all. Thanks! submitted by /u/cruiseruser [link] [comments]”

“Pacific Northwest, west of the Cascades, lawn went from green to yellow from January to July. Dry, not reacting to daily watering, doesn’t spruce up. I’ve tried liquid fertilizer but nothing either. I’ve noticed water seems to pool in some spots, and elsewhere it barely holds and runs through grass quickly. Also many types of mushrooms have been coming up and I don’t know what to do about them, if anything. Is this a lost cause? Should I start over and re-sod? If I do start over, what should I d”

“Question regarding fertilizer. New homeowner trying to understand fertilizer timing and type. Have a mix of cool season grasses, full sun (6+ hours), Eastern Washington area. Did a soil test last year and my pH was high, 8.0 so I’ve been adding in elemental sulphur. Recently added granular ammonium sulfate to help with nitrogen that contains some sulfur to my lawn. My issue is for next year, I would like to start a fertilized schedule but my concern is ammonium sulfate provides the nitrogen and”

“(PNW if it helps) I don’t understand how those white flowers keep coming back… I’ve used spray and feed / weed killers and no matter what my grass doesn’t want to look good!! This yellow tinge is worse on camera, but it just isn’t full! NOR GREEN submitted by /u/Itchy_Ad9171 [link] [comments]”

“Hi all, purchased my family home in March of this year, located in Southern California. Lawn looked beautiful until about mid-May when it started to turn yellow and now most parts looks completely dead to me. My gardener did aerate/fertilize but did not really seem to help here. I water all zones daily at 6 am for about 10 minutes. It has been scorching hot in Los Angeles so I bet it being a cool season grass (tall fescue) has something to do w it. I also did ask for the gardener to mow the lawn”

“My yard gets fried every year in late July/early August around the patio. It’s treated and watered but still turns yellow. Rest of the yard looks fine. Pulled some of this up tonight and I think these areas are dead. I’m ready to reseed the entire area but don’t want this to happen again. Any advice? submitted by /u/J9PtwoB3 [link] [comments]”

“I’m in southern Ontario, Canada. I don’t have much grass in my front yard but the grass I do have has slowly started to get patchy. It fallows the edge of my garden then spreads toward the tree. I’ve tried watering but I think it’s time to try anything else as well as asking for reddits help. submitted by /u/HanDrewbacca [link] [comments]”

“Hi, first time homeowner and lawn owner... Can you guys let me know whats happening to my grass? Is this a disease of some sort? or is this simply normal yellowing (due to lack of water?) Location is southeast michigan. submitted by /u/InterestedHandbag [link] [comments]”

“I live on the coast in North Carolina and these areas in my yard keep dying every summer. This is centipede grass and I have several more in front and back yard just like this. Its only in areas with full sun as the areas with partial shade are able to survive the summers just fine with regular watering although the grass around these spots are also full sun and are doing fine year round. I have sandy soil but I've tried to amend these difficult spots with a top dressing of rich top soil and”

“I have not, but it is well within the fan of the impact sprinklers. I have multiple around the yard and do have two small areas— very small— that struggles since the sprinklers miss it. This area has never been a problem in the past nor this large. If I water it any more I get small brown mushrooms”

“Location: north central WA. Irrigation hits the area equally. I have this and two other equally large areas fading and trying to die off. The ground is noticeably hard and bumpy.. areas immediately adjacent are still soft to walk on etc. Is the yellow section a fungal/disease issue? I don’t think it is heat stress since other areas taking direct sun aren’t fading like this. Spray on liquid fungus treatment didn’t do a thing though, but have not used disease ex yet on the areas I did apply a slow”

“Located in southern Massachusetts near Rhode Island border. I get the lawn fertilized regularly. Grub treatments. Pre emergents. And I have it aerated in the fall. I DO NOT have irrigation. I have been living here for 7 years. I have been doing the lawn over in sections as it is a bit overwhelming for me. I get 2 or 3 yards of loam and spread where needed and seed. 1 year I used a slight resistant blend from Scott’s. I can’t remember what was in that. The next few years I used Scott’s Sun and sh”
