Multiple drivers are reporting unexpected suspensions and loss of access to ride-sharing platforms, citing issues with background checks, license validation through third-party services (Samba), and unclear communication from the platform. This results in lost income and frustration.

“Is there anyway to get in touch with the background check team directly? My background check has been pending the criminal check since 9/16. Checkr shows it’s complete since 9/29 and there’s one section that needs to be reviewed by Uber but they keep saying they are waiting on Checkr. Any information would be helpful thank you so much guys. submitted by /u/Interesting_Safe_361 [link] [comments]”

“Uber disabled my driving because they found violations due to a filing error at the dmv. I amended it and now they refuse to run a background check to fix my status. They claim their “decision is final” even though it was incorrect information. How can I go about this? Is there any way to get a background check ran again? submitted by /u/Smart-Pear894 [link] [comments]”

“Got a ticket out of state that I missed and went unpaid, which temporarily put a suspension on my license. Found out about it, paid the ticket, and had to go through a 3rd party service Uber uses, which said I'd need to re-upload my license to be reactivated. They website they used claimed my photo file size was too big, so I used an app to reduce the file size. I believe this made them flag my ID as fraudulent. I then sent new photos of my license to support, and they STILL claim my license”

“What they don't tell you driving for Uber is that you can lose your livelihood just like that, overnight, if Uber is your only income. Got a speeding ticket that got flagged by samba safety during their background check. I went to court and got the ticket removed from my record. I filed a dispute with samba safety and waited weeks for them to answer. They finally did and told me my record was updated. Now I contact Uber to have my account reactivated so I can earn a living but I'm treati”

“Absolutely nothing about my insurance or my mailing address has changed, so I don't know what I need to do, or why they will not let me drive until my background check is reviewed after I have already been driving for them for over a year. submitted by /u/EmptyPocketsXotics [link] [comments]”

“This is the second time within 1 month where uber has done a background check on me and supplied Samba safety with my old driver's license from another state and samba saying it's canceled. I just went through this 3 weeks ago and was literally doing deliveries yesterday. Ironically, Uber also simultaneously went through CHECKR and everything was clear and approved with my proper DL. How do they create an app with new updates and features to "allow drivers the opportunity to earn mo”

“So, Checkr and DoorDash finally got me with the classic expired driver’s license trap. I recently renewed my license, but of course, there’s literally zero way to proactively update your ID in the Dasher app before it expires. So what does DD do? They just wait for your background check to hit, flag it as "adverse information" because the old license on file expired, and completely freeze your account without warning. To make it even better, California gives you that flimsy piece of pa”

“I have tried to get approved to be a new driver but apparently someone used my identity to drive for Uber in San Francisco 3 years ago, did some shady stuff, and got kicked off. I’m in Colorado. Have been for 20 years. Uber just says sorry, you were a bad driver with us before, so nope. Do I have any recourse? submitted by /u/EmbarrassedMixture58 [link] [comments]”

“I have done 1000 trips for UberEats. Now I decided to do UberX coz I have a brand new car. So I applied and everything was marked completed except my background check which was weird, because I never got into trouble so much so, never got a speeding ticket or police stopping me for 30 years of my life. I asked Uber what was the issue and they said vehicle violations. Wow. So I tried texting them, calling them, they called me, still nothing. Still same violations appearing. I was a bit baffled an”

“I am a Delaware based Driver, with PA access as well. I had a yearly background check notification email on 7/27, and another notification the next day that it came back clear. I even downloaded it and looked at each category. I logged into the uber driver app tonight (8/11) to find that my UberX trips have been disabled, with no warning, and no explanation. I contacted customer service, explained the situation, and she claimed that I have the ability to drive in DE, but not PA due to some kind”

“I gave my PTC certificate to uber on April 15, as of today it hasn’t got approved yet. I don’t get rides request within city of Toronto. I have contacted support multiple times. But they close the chat with generic replies. What should I do now ? On the other hand Lyft was able to get the PTC license. submitted by /u/UnableDisaster6293 [link] [comments]”

“Hi I've been driving for ubereats for almost 2 years now. I recently changed my old new york license to a new massachussets license. My account was opened with the new york license. I turned 25 and I had my license for more than 1 year so I applied to change my account to uberx. Now my background check status is stuck on "help us verify your driving history". I have my old license uploaded, my current license uploaded and my old new york driving record uploaded to the system but it”

“Recently moved from Arizona to Virginia. Within one week had my brand new Virginia drivers license. Uber re-ran my background check and I failed because they said that my new license is invalid according to Samba. Re-uploaded new license, went through the same process, failed again. What the hell is wrong with Samba? I have a perfectly valid license. I don’t know why it’s not being included in their report to Uber. I’ve now been down for a month and a half and I’m missing out on significant inco”

“A couple weeks ago I try to go online but was prompted to complete a background check. Everyone once in a while they have to check your background again so no big deal. The background check was taking to long so I login to checkr and they have my background check as SUSPENDED. I reach out to uber and they “look into it” and this is the message they sent me. It’s not like my SSN changed in the last couple weeks. They didn’t even offer a remedy for “problems with my SSN”. I’m not even mad because”
